The color is garnet with a few signs of rust even at this young age. A touch of purple undertones and a wide rim. Everything about this screams Nebbiolo at you, starting with the nose. Customary dried cherries and old leather. Figs, heavy spice, and smoke. It gives you a whiff of dark chocolate just because it’s being nice.

Decanting is a must but after that it starts to reveal its secrets. The acid is there but comparatively mild and things are quite tannic. Not exactly austere but certainly leaning towards it, just like I like it. The palate follows the nose with the more pronounced earth and truffles. It takes a while to really open up and evolve. If you’re impatient you might only get to the good stuff at the very end.

Day 1 very approachable with still more rooms to hit its stride. Day 2 has rose, cinnamon, and pomegranate on the nose. Silky tannins that linger on the top of the tongue and acidity that lasts and makes you want me, but not punchy. The palate is floral with similar notes to the nose. I almost drank through this completely before reviewing.

2020/12/19 with lardo-roasted quail, polenta, squash with rosemary and garlic and carrot green salad with walnuts. Pale and savory, with lip-smacking acidity, minerals and dried flowers. With time, bright but deep berry fruit and brown and green spices emerge. Lovely northern Nebbiolo.

Checks all the Nebbiolo boxes. Alto Piemonte. Brick color, tar & dried roses a little brighter and more delicate than average. Pretty mineral, ferrous, and bright. From Flatiron Wines.

Second time following 2014. With transparency. A bit animal flavor. A bit sour and concentrated compared with 2014. Not so strong tanning. Very balanced Nebbiolo. 2015 @1300, Kping, 200327
Third time. 3 years made it rich and matured. It’s value is increasing! 2015 @1200, Kping, 230629
