Coto de Gomariz

The Flower and the Bee (La Flor y la Abeja) Treixadura 2019

Bright golden color. Aromas of tropical fruits, white flowers and sea spray. The palate leans more toward pear and unripe peach with a pleasant herbal note on the finish. Interesting texture, medium body and crisp acidity. There is a bit of weight (pleasant) but it’s not over the top. Fresh and quite fruit forward. So interesting! — 3 days ago

Château Guiraud

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2005

Columbia County 3.0: Apparently I’m one wine away from my 2,000th reviewed on Delectable, which is probably an odd milestone I would not have even conceived of when starting. What better way to celebrate than with the queen bee of wines (?), royalty w grace : an utterly intense & laser- focused Sauternes. Apricot & pineapple perfumed to the point of raising the rafters. Floods the mouth w quince, candied apricot & pineapple. This may be only its half life, & that’s understating it. — a year ago

Sweet Puglia Moscato

Had a glass of this wine last night. It’s sweet but not too sweet; tastes lovely chilled. It’s a very good moscato for the price. — 3 months ago

Château Léoville Poyferré

Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2004

Delectable Wine
8.9

The 2004 Léoville-Poyferré has a light and airy bouquet with blackberry, antique bureau, forest floor and light fungal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannins, a little austere but balanced, though I notice some attenuation and bitterness towards the finish. So-so for this estate. Tasted at the Léoville-Poyferré vertical at the château with Sara Lecompte Cuvelier. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2022)
