Been 2 years and wow is this a stunner. Nose is gorgeous with mashed roses, tobacco, cigar, spice and other florals. Some rich cherry fruit as well. Red all the way. Really perfumed and aromatic. Just stunning. Palate is rich and deep with awesome freshness and cut and such velvety and sweet tannins. Unreal finish and delicacy. Terrific clarity and purity of fruit. Tannins getting bigger with air but it’s so gorgeous and balanced. Amazing length to the finish. — 6 months ago
The 2004 Léoville-Poyferré has a light and airy bouquet with blackberry, antique bureau, forest floor and light fungal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannins, a little austere but balanced, though I notice some attenuation and bitterness towards the finish. So-so for this estate. Tasted at the Léoville-Poyferré vertical at the château with Sara Lecompte Cuvelier. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2022)

Fun, unique red, with a lot of depth and flavor. Fruit leather, blueberry, and a pleasant spice. Would def buy again. — 6 months ago
Columbia County 3.0: Apparently I’m one wine away from my 2,000th reviewed on Delectable, which is probably an odd milestone I would not have even conceived of when starting. What better way to celebrate than with the queen bee of wines (?), royalty w grace : an utterly intense & laser- focused Sauternes. Apricot & pineapple perfumed to the point of raising the rafters. Floods the mouth w quince, candied apricot & pineapple. This may be only its half life, & that’s understating it. — 2 years ago
