Gaia Principe Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Bigger than most Barbarescos… earthy and dry, some must, some spice. Lovely on the tongue. Light florals. Not overpowering. Classic Italian tart / cran. Even a lemony finish.
X-Mas gift from Tom& Sal from Le Volpi e l'Uva, Florence… their Northern Italian Wine Club this year. The rest of the case is headed for the cellar.

Blueberry and peppery aromas. Blueberry, plum, spices. Fresh and more vibrant than other recent zins. Had with Vicia roast chicken and wheat berry sal and charred broc. Dinner was subpar. But wine was even better 2 hours later. — 4 years ago

No. 3 d'Angélus Saint-Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Garnet purple. Raspberries with vegetal undertones of tomato and graphite. Was delicious with coq au vin and, mixed green sal and thick buttered toast. Great finish to a long stretch of cab francs. — 4 years ago

Initially lot of barrel notes, evolved into raspberry and plum. Licorice, spice, faint cocoa. Tannins we’re grittier than expected. Had with Inas Roast Chicken over Croutons. — 3 years ago

Sal May's Discovery Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Graphite, creosote, and dried cherry nose. Dark red and purple fruits work well with the firm tannins after a short decant. Good stuff from the Horse Heaven Hills. — 4 years ago
