As of 2016 this estate is at another level. Stunning nose that just lifts the whole room up it’s so pungent. Macaerated red cherries, complex spices, so much spice. Earthy. Mineral with loads of limestone. Hint of roses. Floral component comes through more as wine aerates. Also a savory, feral, meaty element. This nose has it all and constantly changes. Sweet and succulent with forceful, classic BOULEY tannins and wonderful purity and freshness. Palate is showing younger than the nose at this point but is just as stunning for its core of fruit, incredible concentration and ripe, Noble tannins. Long finish hints at so much more but man is this pure, energetic and vivacious. Amazing vivid fruit and you can tell the yields are low and the depth is deep ocean. — 3 months ago
Splendid. Robardelle is parceled in village and premier levels and this one kinda rare was very good — 10 months ago
Nose is a little toasty oak, blueberry juice, and blackberry.
Palate has oak-like cherry but very restrained on woody aspects, mid-season supermarket cherry, ripe plum, red raspberry, blackberry, TBD mineral, perfect acid levels!
I want to drink everything I have at this level, decanted for over one hour and this is absolutely perfect, nothing in the way of enjoyment. Pierrick Bouley is genius.
24hr Update: Nice giant (size-wise, not overpowering, the large sized berries have a more subtle flavor) blueberry flavor. Oak is more noticeable today, but not obtrusive to the red/blue fruits, a gentle compliment, perfect today. — 2 years ago
A wow wine and easily the top 1 or 2 wines at Chez Bouley now. Soaring aromas of cherry, cherry liquer, cherry flower, huge limestone, amazing mineral depth. Subtle hint of jam that adds to the complexity. Truly a wow nose. As it aerates it grows now complex but always with one foot in a mineral pool. Palate is extraordinary. So juicy with an unreal velvety texture and perfect balance and freshness. Huge cherry fruit that is presented on a bed of velvety tannins and then the fruit really fans out on the finish. Extraordinary. What palate presence. Amazing delineation energy and purity. Stunning. — 5 months ago
Chill it A bit and enjoy with basically anything. A great find and far better than ratings indicate. — 9 months ago
What a showing. Big classic nose of black and red cherries, spice, mashed flowers and a firm core of mineral. Lurid, feral and brooding yet also sweet and seductive. Insanely great aromas. Palate is a bit backwards now but show the high class terroir Pierrick Bouley is working with here. Great freshness and length and also ample structure. Insane length. Better in 3-4 years but wow. — 2 years ago
Nose a bit quiet out of the gates. Dusty black cherries so far but so much is buried under that. Some plum, licorice and spice emerge and that black fruit of character if 2016 is there big time. Palate is magnificent if a bit tightly clenched at the moment. There is greet finesse and purity to the black cherry and mineral flavors. Velvety tannins and terrific acids bring home the juicy sweet black fruits buffered by brilliant minerality. Lovely persistence and waiting to say so much more but all the parts are there. Needs maybe 5 years. — 6 months ago
What a huge 2015 success. Lovely nose of big cherry, cassis, crushed stones and so much intense minerality. Floral as well with lavender and mashed violets. Intense and gorgeous. Palate is just a fruit bomb. Amazingly concentrated yet elegant as well with huge rich cherry fruit that is so sweet and gorgeously defined. Wonderful acidity and freshness. Best showing yet. — 7 months ago
This is insanely great. In warm vintages I find Volnay and Pommard always delivery. 03/05/09/15. More warm vintages to come! Beautiful nose of tea leaf, earthy loamy minerality, gorgeous deep red cherry fruit that is almost exotic with a hint of licorice. Amazing fruit on this nose. But also really complex. Stunning. Fresh, elegant and beautifully balanced with ripe fruit but also cleansing acidity, some grippy tannin and big time depth. Amazingly fine tannins as it airs out. Like velvet. Stunning. I can’t believe how great this is. Will last 20 more years. — a year ago
