Poggio al Casone

Castellani La Cattura Toscana Teroldego Syrah 2015

ESF
9.1

continuing in the vein of unusual Italian wines, we thoroughly enjoyed this 10 yr old Teroldego from Tuscany of all places: pouring a deep rich ruby, partially opaque with copious quantities of red fruit on the nose, some dark berried fruit as well, licorice, dirt & soil, peppery goodness some dried herbs and so on. complex and engaging, med bodied on palate, more fruit & spice, fleshy mild tannins and smooth finish - other than color, not showing its age. — 6 days ago

Poggio San Polo

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

The 2013 vintage enjoyed Classic cool weather, and the 2013 San Polo reveals what old time Brunellos were like prior to global warming. It is medium bodied, colorful, with persistent fruit and underbrush aromatics; flavorsome, balanced, crisp and energetic with refined tannins. Lovely wine. — 2 months ago

Poggio al Casone

Casone Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2017

Sleeper hit #toscanaigt - typical #sangiovese dark fruit + spicy forest floor character all wrapped up in a high-QPR package. #traderjoes — a month ago

Podere Poggio Scalette

Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2021

Love the nose. Deep, sweet/sour cherry, loads of sweet, pungent minerality, meadow flowers. In the mouth it’s still very youthfully vigorous, with a deep initial whack of zingy, pure, concentrated cherry, but then it tightens up as the crisp acids and the sneaky tannins make an entrance. This will improve over the next few years but is really fine now. — 2 months ago

Figli d'Italia

Leone D'Oro Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano Sangiovese Blend

Cannot go wrong with 2018 vintage on most central Tuscan wines and this isn’t an exception. A nice, inexpensive, appealing and approachable Sangiovese driven with a gentle tannins, bright orange acidity, juicy cranberry, ripe red cherries and spice and subtle touch of oak. A perfect pizza companion wine for a casual drinking! — 2 months ago

Tenuta Col d'Orcia

Poggio al Vento Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2015

One of the best Italian wines I've had recently. Deep, juicy cherry and plum notes dominate. Well-rounded, elegant. Great with some chocolate or a lighter pasta dish with lean meat. — 3 months ago
