Picpoul Blanc

Picpoul-de-Pinet Picpoul Blanc 2017

Fresh white florals on the nose, tastes of lemon bars, creamy and smooth without sweetness. It’s salty and acidic, dry short finish. Great find for the price, will definitely revisit in summer. — 12 days ago

Les Pentes Saumur Chenin Blanc 2015

Lyle Fass

Super sick serious Chenin. Nose of beeswax, almonds, superb minerality, hint of honey, so deep, concentrated and super deep with intense acidity and explosiveness. So pure and fresh. Clean. Lanolin. Superb texture. Juicy and so so clean. Long and lingering. Superb structure and length. Lingers forever. Salty finish. Huge wine. Massively structured and also a hint of lime. Sick. — 7 days ago

Domaine Huet

Réserve Brut Vouvray Pétillant Chenin Blanc 2009

I’ll admit it. I had no idea Huet made a sparkler. They do and it’s really good. All chenin blanc (obviously) and at 10 years old it’s starting to drink well but could definitely go longer. Bone dry, chalky and with pear and lychee notes abounding. A nice change up in sparklers. — 2 days ago

Surlie Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc 2017

Citrus all day & night on both nose and palate. Great acid & freshness makes this way too easy to enjoy. Great tension between the fruit & dry notes on the finish — 3 days ago

Tablas Creek Vineyard

Paso Robles Picpoul Blanc 2018

I believe Tablas Creek was the first winery to bring Picpoul to the US, though could be wrong. In any case, they have offer a wide variety of french varietals in Paso. Enjoy. — a month ago

De La Mulonniere

Loire Valley Chenin Blanc

A delicious Chenin Blanc from France. Showing honey, yellow apples, apricot, tropical fruits, pineapples, citrus and spices.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Dry to off dry on the palate and delicious.

Good by itself or with food. Nicely balanced with nice complexity.

100% Chenin Blanc grapes from Anjou.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Domaine Fabrice Gasnier

Le coteau de Sonnay Chinon Chenin Blanc 2017

Not a fan of most Chinons Blanc, as they often start life lean and mean, then go absolutely nowhere. This, however, is that rare exception: already tender and alluring, showing acacia, melon, honeysuckle and wet gravel, with an unctuous texture and a fair dash of residual sugar (albeit perfectly balanced by massive acids). Fabulous. — 6 days ago

Have you had any of the domaine's other wines? I see them at Moore Bros, where I get a discount. They're already very underpriced.

Have followed all of Gasnier’s wines for a few years. They are- after a couple of difficult vintages in the early teens- uniformly superb.

Great to hear. I will start to do so as well

Nicholson Jones

St. Helena Sauvignon Blanc 2016

One of my favorite small production wine, 300 cases. Cal Nicholson spent his youth in So. CA & after a long marketing career he hung up his spurs to follow his 2 real interests in life – surfing & wine making. Jones is the maiden name of Cal’s wife Pam. A wonderful wine. Aromas of lemon citrus with herb, stone & tropical fruits. Palate, peach, Granny Smith apple & ripe melon flavors with lively citrus zest wrapped in lbalanced acidity. Lingering finish ending with mineral citrus finish. Consistent! Nice! — 4 days ago

Les vignes nobles de Sophie Bertin

Menetou Salon Sauvignon blanc 2018

Les vignes nobles de Sophie Bertin. Menetou Salon blanc. Sauvignon blanc 2018

Herbal nose with lemon and a bit of chalk. Very nice. The palate is well balanced, matter, a chalky touch too, a great acid frame, some grip on the sides and the end of the palate hits kind of wall, where the grip transforms into a slightly bitter, herbal touch which leads to a lemony finish. This is very good
