2018 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 2.5 hours. It’s easily been a decade+ since tasting their entry level stuff. Medium/medium heavy body. A bit riper than expected. Haven’t come across those levels of ripeness on their higher end stuff in the last few years. Can see why some would absolutely love this tho. Missing structure that usually accompanies Hall reds. For such a big *ss vintage, thought there would be mas. Sadly, no. 11.7.24. — 13 days ago
The Hyde Vineyard is like a Cathedral for Chardonnay. Merely tasting Chardonnay from this site, sought after by California wine making royalty becomes and extraordinary experience. Hobbs and Ramey have taken California Chardonnay to new highs with fruit derived from this soil. This example is no exception, with a good seven years of aging, the wine has developed deep nuances like nutty and brioche notes which soften as the wine breaths. Finish is long and refreshing with abundant citrus. Cheers. — 19 days ago
It’s a shame they don’t make wines like this any more — a month ago
Nice and balanced Chardonnay with golden apples, fat peels of lemon, some orange zest, cream, butter and very refined touch of vanilla. Nice acidity and not too heavy. — a month ago

Donald Patz
Owner/Winemaker Patz & Hall
From magnum. This was the first vintage of Patz & Hall “Alder Springs Vineyard” Chardonnay. At the point of blending a flicker of original youthfulness with otherwise fully matured Chardonnay flavors. This is why we drink older wines. Rich, complex spice and toast, notes of tangerine, beeswax, dried apple, caramel, wildflower, sea breeze, exotic perfume, kiwi, crushed rock. A moderate yellow color. I was there when the grapes were picked. Short of help, we all pitched in to harvest. A miracle. — 5 days ago
