Loren Crossing

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2024

2024 vintage. Medium/medium heavy body. Not nearly as brusque/dark-fruited as the excellent 2023 but still deliciously delivers. A tad more initial richness this go round. Price still $15.10 a bottle resto cost. 7.8.26. — a month ago

Juniper Estate

Juniper Crossing Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2017

Bought this as an afterthought and quite pleased that I did. It's complex and rich, with blackcurrant/plum fruit, cedary oak and soft tannins all on the same page. Great value. — 5 years ago

Kanonkop Estate

Simonsberg Stellenbosch Pinotage 2019

And now to South Africa! Where they produce some awesome en es for decent prices. The Pinotage was created there. A crossing between Pinot Noir and Cinsault (which was called Hermitage in its olden days). It tastes like a Pinot Noir on steroids. But, when Kanonkop gets its hands on it they lift it up to a sensational experience. Vibrant, intense and layered with flavors. Their black label is their cream of the crop sourced from old vines. — a year ago

Dutcher Crossing Winery

Winemakers' Cellar Dry Creek Valley Chardonnay 2018

First thing: much earthier than I anticipated. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of ripe fruit: lemon 🍋, pineapple 🍍, and apricot 🍑. But before the fruit, there’s smoky minerality 💨 and dried thyme 🌱 followed by hazelnut. 🌰

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2014

Sette Ponti or "seven bridges," refers to the 7 bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in new French oak. Went to a tasting, had ‘14 & ‘15 side by side. Very dark enticing red with concentrated aromas of dark fruits & earthy notes. Flavors of cherry & plum with tobacco and spice. Firm but approachable tannins, medium length ending with a bit of spice as the finish builds. Best to drink ‘14 now. Tasting Sample. — 8 years ago

Chenoweth Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

Very delicious and multi dimensional chardonnay. Croissant, pineapple, pear, marshmallow, and lemon. Good acidity too. You have to like Chardonnay to like this wine. Not for the ABC crowd. — 5 years ago
