Ochota Barrels

The Mark of Cain Pinot Meunier

Trademark Ochota crunchy juice, possibly the best I’ve had in a while. Looks weirdly brick, but finely perfumed and graceful drinker. — 11 days ago

Enjoying your natural wines I see. Georgie loves them and is in one of the epicentres as in Copenhagen.

Folie à Deux

Ménage à Trois Aged 3 Months in Bourbon Barrels Limited Release California Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Not as dry as a lot of cabs. Full body, has a sweetness, and you can taste the oak. Very smooth finish. — 5 days ago

Robert Mondavi Winery

Private Selection Aged in Bourbon Barrels Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

I was afraid to try this after the last Robert Mondavi wine I had but this was great! Will definitely buy this again. Very fruit forward with the perfect amount of tannins. — 9 days ago

Goose Island

Bourbon County Stout Aged In Bourbon Barrels 2016

Almost four years of age has mellowed out nicely. Still has a the bourbon hear letting you know it's there, but drinking very nice. Was a great finish to the night (and may have been a bad idea). — 5 days ago

The Quivira Collection

Wine Creek Ranch Sauvignon Blanc 2018

I think Quivira is quietly making some of the most enjoyable Sauvignon Blancs in Sonoma. I fell in love with their Alder Grove designation but this version from their “Q Collection” is no less interesting. In fact, the oak treatment is rather unique as this was aged in a combination of new and used acacia barrels as well as used barrels from the Jura and Champagne. I’m not sure how those all translate to the wine but the result is compelling! It presents a very pale straw color in the glass. The nose is powerful, pungent even with pomelo, jalapeño pepper (you know, the garden fresh ones you chop up and throw into a margarita) and tarragon. On the palate, it dazzles with bright key lime, passion fruit and minerals. So zippy and delicious and yet, there’s a deft creaminess to it that is remarkable. So balanced. This was sublime with Peruvian-styled ceviche. — 3 days ago

Here is what think... the California people are creating possibly some of the best Sauvignon Blancs anywhere. We bought 2 cases of 24 different Sauvignon Blancs when the daughters were home and seldom did we find something that wasn’t enjoyable. We switch to a $20 New Zealand wine in the middle and it was a acid trip...if you haven’t tried the 2019 Rombauer SB... you’d better, pair it with raw Oysters.... Fantastic Primo....
