Pretty unusual blend of Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Nero d’Avola from different vineyards in Mendocino County. Fermented separately and then aged in barrel for 6 months. Beautiful, complex nose with notes of red and dark fruit. Cherry cola, cinnamon and some smoky notes. Fresh, medium-bodied. Tart red fruit, some blood orange. Great acidity. No sulfur? No problem! So vibrant. The carbonic like Grenache notes really sing, and always love Nero d’Avola. Floral, violets, almost blue-fruited aromatics not unlike Northern Rhône, but then soft and supple tannins, Light-to medium bodied, just lovely. — 6 years ago
