This was an evening out in Raleigh while in town for a wedding. We had a glass of the Nine Hats Red Blend. Medium purple with a nose of blackberry jam, strawberries, vanilla, and a slight hint of sweet tobacco. Very much a fruit forward wine on the palate. Full bodied, this is a crowd pleaser. We had this by the glass at Vita Vite in Raleigh, NC. At $20 a bottle this is a great value. — 5 years ago

Strong showing from a NC winery I was impressed with. others don't seem to rate it high but could be vintage. Purchased Nov 2017. Nice leather aromas with tobacco earthy raspberry taste. — 8 years ago
Despite age, this showed like current vintage: guessing Bordeaux blend, wet generous nose of red & black fruit, quite peppery, some bell pepper, cocoa, quite nice, palate was elegant, suave, well-knit, big flavors echoing nose w/sturdy integrated tannins. We find for me from NC. — 3 years ago

In our binary world- this is a feminine format. Pinot weight and body with East Coast fruit expression. Nice aromatics couple with punchy acidic flow. The type of plummy acid that make the mouthfeel “float” with a grace more impactful than the actual fruit. Compelling, especially with the right cuisine ;) 1 bottle remains - target 2026? 91 pt because it’s NC and relatively weighted — 5 years ago

Snagged this Sonoma North Coast 2014 fine thing at my local shop, in Morehead City, NC. Did same with a Jersey Mike's turkey sub sporting everything but for pickles. As corporate as that might read, I nonetheless suggest you do same - or something similar thereto. Most know how groovy Pinot Noir is with turkey, so, whether you have access to a crazy cool loaf of northern Cali sour dough and a fresh turkey from the wild or you are doing a JM #7, like me on another coast, this maroon draped fineness will likely turn your head, tilt the bottle, and pour over and over as you work your way through a full-benefit sandwich drenched by this gorgeous liquid lady bathed in boysenberry, cherry and blueberry that has snuggled with seemingly new but proper oak wrapped in Merlin's seaborne magic mist lending the upper oceanside forest's wet, wild spice exaggerated with each spin and spill that clings and lingers righteously reckoning with Quicksilver's vintage plea - " have another hit..."

For under $20, never had a better CF: just gorgeous, elegant feminine expression starting w/brilliant dark ruby color - verge of opaque, generous red berried fruit w/smoky vanilla accent. Smooth luxurious on mid-palate, finely grained tannins, yet sturdy w/balance integrated acidity & tons of flavor. Modest length on finish only telltale sign of cost. Always pleased w/this NC winery. — 4 years ago
12/2020. 2020 Best vineyard by WE. Good full body Pinot. Nice on the palate. Paired well with the Tagliatelle con Tartufo from Bull and Bagger in Asheville NC. — 6 years ago
Bold and delicious. Had with Susie in NC — 7 years ago
So good. Top three winery for me in NC. A lot of funk in the aroma. Maybe some Brett but doesn’t come through in the taste. — 8 years ago
Great wine. Really bold flavor light tannins and a nice color. Cherries with some bitterness. Beginning to think NC wines are a bit under appreciated.... — 9 years ago
