Colchagua Valley Syrah 2014

Smells of roasted jam and full on barnyard.

Hefty wine with oak laden cocoa covered fruits, classic Syrah from South America. Fresh garden vegetal and citric like acid bringing up the rear.

One should always have a bottle of this on the shelf.

La Finca Clos d'Angel Cabernet Sauvignon Carménère 2012

This week my Friday's Cabernet fix is a nice surprise from Chile.

Beautiful color of dark ruby with a burgundy rim.

Nice nose of sweet cherries, black currants, oak, licorice, vanilla bean, light vegetables, coffee, chocolates, tobacco, tree bark, molasses and black pepper.

Medium plus in body, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet plums, light vegetables, wood, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, coffee, chocolates and peppercorn.

Medium plus in finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very nice Cabernet from Colchagua Valley. Well balanced with nice complexity and a polished mouthfeel. Tangy finish making it interesting and enjoyable by itself.

A good food wine too. I paired it with a nice piece of steak.

Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and show what it can do, so take your time.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

El Sauce Vineyard Chardonnay 2015

A beautiful, unusual white, with real depth and character. Citrusy zing, but with a soft sweet end that suits both me and the wife perfectly, when we usually can’t agree!!! My favourite white to date. — 9 days ago

Classic Series Colchagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

I had serious doubts about this WS Top 100. I was wrong. This is frigging amazing. Has a nose full of wet earth and burnt wood. Oozes flavors of smoke, currant, and spice. Soft and velvety. WS seriously underrated this. I’d put this $10 thriller up against a $75-$100 cab any day of the week. Had I opened it before the new year it would’ve been my Wine of the Year hands down. The bar has been set really high for my 2018 Wine of the Year. This is going to be hard to beat. No disrespect, i think users are also underrating this. Need to rate the wine, not your wine preferences. — 13 days ago

Reserva Colchagua Valley Malbec 2015

A fantastic Malbec. This vineyard needs some more looking into, as this and a bottle of white I had were both so delicious! This red is a rich deep colour and flavour but not bulky or overly feisty. So impressed. Best Malbec I’ve had so far. — 10 days ago
