Mon Plaisir

Morlet Family Vineyards

Mon Chevalier Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

This is simply delightful, bloody awesome actually.
Typical Napa-purity and dito density, yet laced with Bdx-like treble-notes of freshness, acidity and transparency.
Served it alongside maigret/parsnip/anise-jus, but liked it better before and after this fantastic dish.
Score might be on the conservative side…

Moussé Fils

Les Vignes de Mon Village Blanc de Meuniers Champagne Pinot Meunier

Pale bronze with effusive perlage and creaminess. The nose is simply gorgeous with red and green apples and almonds. Freshly toasted brioche bread with a dollop of cinnamon butter. Greenery and fresh red fruits. Stunning. I could just smell this for so long but I suppose I should taste it as well.

Pure Meunier from Cuisles. Disgorged in October of 2021 with no dosage. Terrific balance and structure here, as is the norm for all Moussé champagnes. From a perpetual reserve of wines that makes such a huge difference. The depth here is atypical.

Electric in the mouth. Great length. Minerality and purity on the tongue. A bit of citrus on first taste. Then the spice and fruit come in to play. Whenever I taste this I always think it’s my favorite Moussé champagne. And that’s saying a lot.

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Mon Coeur Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2022

8.9

Great base-level CdR from the negociant side of Chave. Floral and high toned fruit on the nose, red fruit and a bit of pepper on the finish. Some good typical spice. Decent finish. Slightly high alcohol. Probably has some upside with aging. — 14 days ago

Mon Village Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2020

Great balance of acidity, fruitiness and floral. All present but subtle and well rounded. Had it with a Vietnamese food and a Michelin recommended restaurant in Ho Chi Minh and it paired very well. — a year ago

Château Sainte-Eulalie

Plaisir d'Eulalie Minervois Red Rhone Blend 2022

Syrah is the predominant grape more than Carignan & Grenache, despite what the label states! The wine is therefore more complex, more fragrant and more powerful at 14.5%, without being jammy or overwhelming. Good value for less than £10. — 10 months ago
