La Croix du Roy Sancerre Pinot Noir 2018

Cute label. Color is pretty. Smells of the river rocks and berry compote. Hint of smoke. Flavors are juicy and complex. Plenty of minerals. Balance is great. Floral and fresh. — 8 months ago

Cuvée La Croix du Roy Sancerre Pinot Noir 2020

Ruby color with aromas of ripe black fruits and some floral and earthy notes, aged 22 months in stainless and oak. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with vanilla spice. Fine tannins, vivid acidity, nice balance ending with oak and earthy mineral spice. Good now! — 10 months ago

Avant La Tempête Blanc Sec Jacquère 2018

Before the storm! Apremont Jacquere planted in 1956, destroyed in 2019 by hail. Orchard fresh fruit salad. Stony pallet and pineapple acidity. There is a creamy character, nice little background to the fruit and mineral. Does need some air to disparate some ‘natural odors’ but I find those easy to get past. — 5 years ago

Dry but with stone fruit notes that imply sweetness. High acidity. And the fizz. Refreshing. Delicious. I want more! — a year ago

Mathieu has taken over winemaking and has done a fabulous job. This was all bright mid red fruits with some hues of blue and soft earthiness. Fresh & pure wire to to wire and a really nice pair with Hedy’s amazing spicy pumpkin soup. @ Plate & Bottle. Photos of, those old narly Gamay vines, Hedy’s spicy pumpkin soup, Mathieu barrel tasting and a little fireside bubbles & cheese before dinner. — 9 years ago

La Mariole Vieilles Vignes Red Blend 2019

So, a French Languedoc old vine Carignan from 100+-year-old vines (12.5% ABV) in Corbieres, shows classic southern French garrigue, sage and rosemary I smell, complex yet much lighter on the palate, these old vine Carignan tonight are both quite fine, though I will say that if you tried these blind side-by-side, it wouldn’t be difficult to identify the Old World vs. New World versions. — 9 months ago

@Dave, it was, I marginally preferred the Liocco tonight, my wife the La Mariole. Interesting to me was that the CA wine was totally clean, zero sediment, while the French wine had a fair crust on the side of the bottle. Both were quite enjoyable, and if my way better half was doing the ratings, the French wine (Vin de Table, BTW, not Corbieres) would have been 3 points better than the Lioco!

Aging great Sancerre for a few years just concentrates and focuses all its best qualities. Perfect elegance, richness, high-toned minerality and that mango/papaya/gooseberry thing. #dominiquecrochet #sancerre — 7 years ago
