Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec Blanc White Blend 2015

Ming L
9.2

This is very similar to Les Jardins Philosophiques from the sister property Bouscasse, with a bit more nutty lightly oxidative notes that almost points you to Jura Blanc. Textured body contrasts the crisp acidity nicely.
Usually a blend of Petit Courbu and Petit Manseng, but the back label shows 100% Petit Courbu for 2015. This will cruise for another 5-8 years.

Madiran Meinjarre Tannat 2016

No notes, to go along arguably the best cassoulet in the region. Black fruits on the nose, a bit of leather too. Great acid drive and great width, nice tannins all along and fine tannins that kick in the rear before a nice and delicate finish. Great stuff and pairing made in heaven. — 2 years ago

Vieilles Vignes Madiran Tannat 1990

[80% Tannat, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon] Leather, forest floor, maybe a little Brett, excellent structure and depth, despite its age, seems like it can easily age another 10-15 years, long, lingering finish, excellent Madiran! — 13 hours ago

Petit Torus Madiran Tannat Blend 2018

That it’s 6 yrs of age & presents as young & fresh as it does says a lot about its Tannat core- 60% Tannat, the rest Cabernet Sauvignon & Cab Franc. Juicy but a secondary wave of tannic undertow. Red fruited & delish. For about 15$ a cool choice for a party wine. Intro to a raucous family night watching a great Knicks win. — 8 months ago

Château Peyros

Vieilles Vignes Madiran Tannat 2018

Dense, tannic, medium weight texture, good acidity, a little stony earth and funk. Tastes Italian, but less rustic than that implies. A little on the simple side but tastes good wine for grownups. I imagine it could age a lot. 90. — a month ago

XL Madiran Tannat 1999

The secondary and tertiary notes are on full display at year 25, yet there are still blackberry and raspberry lingering around. It’s rich, powerful, and silky smooth on the palate. Very rustic and savory yet so refined. The tannins are resolved but there is plenty of acidity to hold this for 5-6 more years before its slow descent.
Somewhat reminds me of Musar.
