Clos Fardet (Pascal Savoret)
Madiran Tannat
This is delightful. Massive bouquet and big fruit as well as earth and leather. Have only had South American tannât in the past. We drank this side by side w a similarly priced 2016 Argentina tannât w some time in new oak, and we liked this better. The Argentinian was still good in its own right and was much more subtle, earthier, w chalky cocoa powder

Nose: ripe dark raspberry with hints of mint and a touch of alcohol, jammy dark fruit Taste: dark fruit first, with tart acidity in balance, leading into subtle but mentionable notes of leather. Finish: super long and big bold tannins, make your lip stick to your teeth tannins, there’s some more dark raspberry fruit on the finish but mostly dry tannins
