Not sure I’ve had a wine like this before. Heavy peppercorn crusted smoked meat and iron but where I thought it would continue a NRhonê power profile, it turned thin/lean. The palate showed more pepper and salted cured meats. Finish of black pepper, violets and old potpourri. A lean CdP? — 11 days ago
One of the world’s greats. A remember where you were when wine. It’s full and complete and symphonic, stimulating, and catalyst of imagery. Grounded sprawling Provençal herbs, white flowers fennel, and orange note. Sublime texture. Slippery, viscous, weighty, just barely verging in syrupy. Life moment for me. — 12 days ago
Nose has cold raspberry and sliced strawberry.
Palate has strawberry mousse and raspberry grated into limestone slabs.
Simple notes, yes, but a very nice bottle. A sparkling wine (Brut) from Provence, or the more wider Méditérranée IGP. This IGP shares its land with AOC appellations as varied as Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Bandol and Côtes de Provence. Information as shared by my dear wine mentor friend, David T.
First time I've ever had a sparkling wine from Provence, neat stuff here. — 18 days ago
I seldom drink rosé, unless it’s champagne of course, but the appelaing recipe and heritage of Clos Cibonne caught my intention.
The Cuvée Prestige Caroline is a very pleasing rosé indeed, the elevage in oak adds a comforting and balance complexity, taking those fresh red fruit character and adding a well portioned chunk of vanilla whipped cream to the canvas, a broad texture is gracefully being led by a fresh spine, creating a balanced interplay throughout the finish. — 11 days ago
Lovely Rose’. Loads of raspberry fruit and minerals. Hints of fresh herbs. Beautiful texture. Fresh, clean and refreshing. Beautiful. — 6 days ago
A great wine in every vintage. Soulful & unique. Clean, fresh melon gives way to herbal accented summer berries. Structured, yet nimble. Palate weight is effortless here. The record is the debut from Kamasi Washington, appropriately titled The Epic. Much like Cibonne, this is bold and courageous. He decided to release triple LP’s for his first two albums, and there isn’t a note of filler on there. Equal parts Coltrane, Tapscott & Pharoah Sanders. He’s a legend already. Great things. — 19 days ago
Very pale, lurid orange. A deeply perfumed bouquet evokes mineral-accented citrus and pit fruits, along with a powerful floral overtone. Coats the palate with juicy nectarine blood orange, strawberry and lavender flavors that take a sweeter turn and tighten up on the back half. The floral note comes back strong on an impressively long, focused finish that shows excellent clarity and solid mineral thrust. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, August 2018) — 7 days ago
Meaningful bottle of wine. This was a gift to me from the 70th anniversary of D-Day. I’d like to thank the French Foreign Legion for making the wine. I enjoyed airdropping the French Foreign Legion and the 101 Airborne Devision from the U.S. on the 70th anniversary of D-Day. We are 75 years out now and I would love to commemorate the brave souls that took part on the D-Day invasion. God Bless you all. You are true heroes. 75 years out I commend the greatest generation. — 13 days ago
