Wonderful cote rotie with notable density and depth — 2 months ago
The 2022 Chablis Vauprin has another impressive nose: taut and delineated. The mineralité of a Premier Cru with a clever reduction suggests some astute winemaking. The palate is nicely balanced, with a citrus-fresh entry, lively and animated, and a bright and vibrant finish. This is irresistible. Chapeau! Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. The 2022 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru, 80% aged in used barrels, has quite a striking and powerful bouquet. It evinces a bit of wood contact that will need a few months to be fully subsumed, yet there is plenty of fruit to soak that up. The palate is very well-balanced, with a bright entry, peachy and zesty. The 2022 has quite a precocious, irresistible finish. It's not the most complex Vaudésir, but you'll have no regrets finding it in your glass. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2024)

The description: 'Freshness, Fruit and Richness, the promise of Lavantureux Petit Chablis''.
The Petit Chablis from Roland Lavantureux is like a Bourgogne blanc from Antoine Jobard or Jean-Marc Roulot—a delicious, meticulously crafted wine that offers a taste of the magic found in the domaine’s more exclusive wines, with all the refreshing minerality and stoniness that is the hallmark of cool-climate Chardonnay grown on limestone. A sketch by da Vinci isn’t the Mona Lisa, but it still comes from the master’s hand.
The opinion: complex and beautiful.
