Majestic - really nice, a little different. Quite strong — 9 months ago
I've been *trying* to lower my wine budget this year, and it's led me to some fun finds. This pinotage being a prime example, at under $20.
The nose is a massive smoke show with coffee, mint, and scorched earth. On the palette we have coffee, bacon, green herbs, orange peel, bubblegum (!), and tea leaves. There is so much going on here, I don't fully get it, but it's a fun ride. Would be best with food, although a steak would drown out a lot of these wild flavors.
Enjoying my Sunday afternoon and listening to Guy Lombardo.

Excellent rise. All free run juice — 8 months ago
Deep red with intense purple hues.
Nose is perfumed with aromatic notes showing dark blackcurrants, red currants with nice spices and subtle vanilla.
Mouth-filling on palate with silky tannin structure, firmly supported by seamlessly integrated oak. Good acidity with a long, lingering, and sustained finish..

Did You Know?
Pinotage was created in 1925 by South African scientist Abraham Perold, who crossed Pinot Noir and Cinsault (locally called Hermitage). While often debated for its red wine style, Pinotage has found new life in rosé and sparkling versions, loved for their vibrancy and freshness. — 2 days ago
