Funky nose that then develops to a more complex and explosive aspect, green apple, litchi, mint, touch of hazelnut, and then a slight varietal and vegetal aspect of the Sauvignon. Palate is crisp, wide, massive but a medium length on day one, day two the wine is so much better, more balanced and in place it seems.

Reminder to myself to drink more Beaujolais. Beaujolais me when I want a fun wine that still hits that delicious mark.

Beaujolais, France, is located just south of Burgundy, and Beaujolais should never be confused with Beaujolais Nouveau. This wine is generally light, lively, and delicious.

2020 Bonnett Cotton, Cote de Brouilly 100% Gamay. Located right next to the Bonnet-Cotton winery in Odénas, Cotton’s parcel of Côte de Brouilly is on a unique terroir of ‘corne verte,’ a particular soil blend of pink granite and diorite which Pierre claims is found nowhere else in the Beaujolais. ~winemaker notes.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. Not showing much age.

Beautiful and complex nose with black plums, black currants, black cherry compote, cedar, light vanilla, licorice, dark chocolates, black tea, tobacco leaf, earth, dark coffee and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, oak, licorice, earth, tobacco leaf, peppercorn, herbs and mediterranean spices.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This 13 year old Merlot still feels young, but already gorgeous. Elegant and nicely balanced, with great complexity, especially on the nose. Feels like a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon at this point.

Still showing lots of fruits with big tannins to carry it for the long haul. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Has good potential to become a 96 point wine.

Needs 30 minutes in the glass to open up properly.

A blend of 89% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec. Aged in all new French oak barrels for 15 months.

I’ve had both La Muse and La Joie so I was happy to get to try Le Désir. I think I like this cab franc dominated blend the best. The nose is floral with green fresh notes. On the palate it’s rich, full bodied with a luxurious velvety texture. Dark fruit, bell pepper, spices, licorice with powdery tannins that starts to melt into the wine completely. Picq Chablis Dessus de la carrière 2018

À l’ouverture le nez est vraiment aromatique, melange de beurre et de bois, odeurs végétales.

En bouche, le vin est bien boisé, pas trop, juste assez équilibré, c’est gras avec une belle acidité.

Jour 2, le bois s’est estompe, fait place à la pomme verte, le citron, la poire. L’acidité est bien présente manque un peu amplitude, de rondeur mais je crois que cela va arriver avec quelques années en cave. — 6 years ago

Woah, reminds me why I love this region. Not the most rounded Vacqueyras I’ve had, but definitely got the smokey, rich, spicy, full body notes I love, paired with an incredibly silky mouthfeel.
