The 2016 Villa Del Lago is absolutely another stunning creation from their prestigious 20 acre vineyard atop Pritchard Hill. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in the finest hand selection of new French oak barrels. The bouquet is powerful as well as elegant. There are hints of rose petals, jasmine, bay leaf, baking chocolate and blackberries. The mouthfeel and flavors are extraordinary. This wine exudes voluptuous texture, rich, round extremely balanced acidity and tannin. Classic wine from a classic producer. Another stellar vintage of this outstanding wine! Dark ruby color with a slight garnet rim. Starts out a bit tight but opens beautifully. Aromas of black cherry/plum with hints of dried rose petals, rosemary, chai spices and garrigue. Palate shows more cooked black cherries and plums with notes of bay leaves and baker’s chocolate. Touches of dried earth, minerals and smoke on the long and luxurious finish. Full bodied and noticeable tannins that will continue to soften with time. Beautifully balanced. Stellar! An aged (sorta) Petite.! Dark like black cherry and plum skins. Smells like barns, garages and sheds mixed with jammed black and red fruits. Maybe just a tiny hint of turpentine or eucalyptus oil. Flavors are big and tannic as one would expect from CA Petite Sirah. Hint of mountain berries. Some ‘mountain misery’ maybe too. Hearty, deep and full. Seems unfazed by the 6 years aging lol. This is a big boy wine for those who like to feel wines on their front teeth and have a coated tongue. But it’s flavorful and complex too. Pretty classic CA P.S. Well done. — a year ago

This is another wine we are drinking in the pandemic quarantine of 2020. I love it! Vary dark in the glass... almost opaque. It smells good, dark boysenberry with a suggestion of earth wood and a bit of spice and chocolate. It rolls on the tongue like velvet, so smooth. Pleasant medium length finish.
