No. 61 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2016

Foyt Family Wines Sonoma County No. 61 Pinot Noir 2016, California

Ruby in color medium-plus intensity and the wide reddish rim.

Strong nose of bing cherries, earth, strawberries, spices, vegetables, barnyard, light alcohol, black pepper and licorice.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with bing cherries, red candy, light wood, earth, strawberries, light vegetables, dark coffee, herbs, tobacco leaf, spices, graphite and black pepper.

Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and cherries.

This is a nice and easy drinking Pinot Noir from Sonoma County. Well balanced with a nice tang and a spicy finish. Showing mild complexity and a nice mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle and good by itself. A nice wine to sip on by the pool. Very tasty and a good quality wine.

I gave it a light chill and paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

Pellet Estate Sunchase Vineyard Un-Oaked Chardonnay 2017

Pale lemon in color with a golden hue.

Nose of lemons, citrus, melons, red apples, white pepper, alcohol, light pineapples and herbs.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with lemons, citrus, apples, pears, herbs, light vegetables, spices and black pepper.

Long finish with limes and grapefruits.

This is a very tasty Chardonnay. Spicy finish with nice complexity and mouthfeel. Nice and elegant.

Good by itself or with food. Not bitter nor tart, and great to sip on by the lake.

Easy drinking, but has a lot of alcohol and it's not noticeable at all, so watch out. Tasty and enjoyable.

This is a great sipper on the boat.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2017

medium straw color, pale watery rim; lemon, green apple, hints of white flowers; citrus, wet stone; medium body, good acidity, 14.1% ABV; the fruit comes mostly from Riddle Vineyard located on a ridge in Green Valley near the town of Occidental with small amounts from the vineyards represented in their single vineyard program; whole cluster pressed, barrel fermented, no less stirring, no new oak; very good value at $30 — 6 days ago

Cuvée Royal St. Robert Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2017

Recently had ‘16. Royal St. Robert Cuvee named in honor of Dante and Carlo Mondavi's grandfather who taught them to be committed to excellence. Medium Ruby with layered aromas of fresh berry fruits with floral and smoky spice notes. On the palate flavors of strawberry and raspberry with cigar box, oak and herb floral notes. Well balanced, savory fine tannins, long finish ending with oaky earthy notes. Very nice! Has ample room to age. Nice! — 4 days ago

Rodger's Creek Vineyard Syrah 2012

Opened for a virtual Killer Wine Night Rhône varietal edition w/ the boys. Big and flavorful with a lot of structure. Lots of cherry and slate flavor. Young. Hold. Had it open for 2 hours and it didn’t make a dent. I wouldn’t touch it for another 5 years easy. Almost surely will score significantly higher with age. — 4 days ago

Old Vine Heinstein Vineyard White Blend 2015

Medium gold in the glass....funky, cheesy, goodness. Forest floor, ripe pear, touch of Brie, musk melon, with some serious weight as it warms. I don’t know if I’d pour this for my sister-or mother-in-law, but all my wine-nerd friends would swoon and pontificate. The wine sings like Beyonce, and takes off and soars. Not sure I want many of these, but fun and pushing the vinous envelope. Dry and balanced, just out-there. — 2 days ago

Beltane Ranch Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2018

First time for this varietal with these guys. Very nice job. Clean, crisp, varietally correct. Nice sense of balance for young wine. No hint of cat pee or grapefruit. Fruit leans toward lemon/lime, kiwi, green seedless grape. — 7 days ago

Charles Ranch Fort Ross-Seaview Chardonnay 2018

Okay... back to back vintages. The ‘18 is IMO a bit more lean, mean, and focused. Ripe pear and Granny Smith apples with a hint of toast. Plenty of intensity, perhaps not as round as the ‘17. Similar in style, I think ‘18 is the better vintage though both are impressive. Balanced..displaying touch of minerality, the wine at this stage in its development needs food. Long, lingering finish. — 4 days ago

Sun Chase Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

Winery notes, Sun Chase Vineyard is planted on the west-facing hillside where the cool Petaluma Gap collides with Sonoma Mountain, this site overlooks a broad sweep of the county from the San Pablo Bay to north Santa Rosa. Our Chardonnay block with an east-west row aspect sits on a sun-drenched, rocky incline at 1000' where fruit yields are naturally limited with small clusters and aromatic fruit. Technical Notes: 76 clone, Whole-cluster pressing, 100% native yeast primary fermentation, 100% wild malolactic fermentation, 11 months in low toast, air-dry 3-year-old French oak, 25% new."
My notes , Aubert style without Aubert price.

Aubert can do no wrong in our minds. Nor can my wife when it comes to my fave fruit cobbler...
Nose displays almonds and white flowers. The palate is so balanced, nuanced, elegant and precise. A perfect structure which segues into some sexy chalky minerality. Moderate sweetness and relaxed acidity define the individual identity of this chard.
