Podere Poggio Scalette

Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2021

Love the nose. Deep, sweet/sour cherry, loads of sweet, pungent minerality, meadow flowers. In the mouth it’s still very youthfully vigorous, with a deep initial whack of zingy, pure, concentrated cherry, but then it tightens up as the crisp acids and the sneaky tannins make an entrance. This will improve over the next few years but is really fine now. — 11 hours ago

Poggio Antico

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Nice but was hoping for a bit more refinement and balance. 15% which comes through only a bit. Still some rusticity. But the overall quality of the fruit is high. Would give it a couple more years at least. — 2 months ago

Tenuta Argentiera

Poggio Ai Ginepri Bolgheri Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

Chocolatey, leathery mouth feel with mainly dark cherry from a fruit perspective. A tiny little spice on the back with a touch of nutmeg. Paired well with Goulash Di Manzo (short rib stew over polenta with mushrooms). — 3 months ago

Poggio San Polo

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

The 2013 vintage enjoyed Classic cool weather, and the 2013 San Polo reveals what old time Brunellos were like prior to global warming. It is medium bodied, colorful, with persistent fruit and underbrush aromatics; flavorsome, balanced, crisp and energetic with refined tannins. Lovely wine. — 7 days ago

Tenuta Col d'Orcia

Poggio al Vento Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2015

One of the best Italian wines I've had recently. Deep, juicy cherry and plum notes dominate. Well-rounded, elegant. Great with some chocolate or a lighter pasta dish with lean meat. — a month ago

Poggio Verrano

Dròmos Maremma Toscana Super Tuscan Blend

In a fantastic phase. A bit watery on the edge but absolutely singing. Great nose with black fruit. Lengthy finish. — 3 months ago

Poggio Lontano

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

2019 vintage. Picked up a bottle at Trader Joe's paying $21.99. For Brunello, light body. Pleasant nose. Playful and substantial enough-in a beyond solid Brunello vintage-to pick up a few bottles to have laying around for guilt-free/casual consumption within the next half-decade. 02.06.25. — a month ago
