Barbera d'Alba 2003

Another nice surprise of our cellar clearing: the 3 litre bottle vintage 2003 was very nice. I doubt that the wine would benefit from getting older. The wine had a very clear red, smell of berries and a smooth and surprisingly fresh taste. Everyone enjoyed it! — 9 days ago

Falletto di Serralunga D'Alba Barolo Nebbiolo 2012

Youthful but very enjoyable now, especially for fellow acid freaks. At first, candied strawberry, with balancing acidity and tannins (both high). Given some time, more traditional Barolo notes emerge... highly aromatic violets and rose hips, with a bit of sandalwood and light tobacco behind sour cherry. This might sound like other Barolos, but it’s significantly different, and from a more ethereal plane. Likely one of those wines that would be tough to nail down with age due to high aromatics and sweet fruit, which would be less prominent with 10-15 years of age. Perfectly happy now, in my glass. — 18 days ago

Le Rocche del Falletto Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo 2009

A touch of medicinal herbs, cherries and some smokey elements come together in this tasty, drink-me-now Barolo. A touch faded, brick color, and a dried fruit quality points towards a shortish life ahead. No matter. This is one for now! — a month ago

Le Rocche del Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba Barolo Nebbiolo 1999

Simply spectacular. Nose was out of this world. Luxardo Cherries, licorice, fresh cracked white pepper, wet leather. Best Barolo I have ever had. — 3 days ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2014

Light, approachable Barolo with great delicate fruit. Was a nice change after Barbaresco I had before. Had by glass and server said recently opened but seemed to have opened already.

Had a favorite Seattle Italian spot on hill.

Valmaggiore Nebbiolo d'Alba 2016

Fantastic value. Very young and tight and could age for quite some time (10+ years). Definitely cellar potential. — 9 days ago

Asili Riserva Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2011

Color starting to turn slightly as this 8 year old wine is right in its ideal drinking period. Sage, rose, raspberry, they all meld nicely in the glass. Delicious now and for a few years but not immortal like some red labels. — a month ago

Gallina di Neive Barbaresco Nebbiolo 1990

Nice looking bottle, TS fill. Brought to Grasings in Carmel, opened/decanted 4 hrs before. Reddish tawny, doesn’t look it’s age. Wow nose. Exotic, attention grabbing. Notes of tea, rose petals, black fruit, some licorice and a little menthol. Ethereal in the mouth. Needed 5+ hrs to show its stuff. Had the staff standing in line for some shared pours. Great showing. At peak but bottles like this one are going to deliver pleasure for another 10 years easily. — 16 days ago
