Dark ruby core with a garnet/orange rim. Aromas of tobacco, forest floor, leather and ripe red and black fruit. Flavors of mushrooms, cranberry, black cherry and blackberry fruit on the palate with additional hints of cocoa powder and baking spices. Long, silky and smoky finish with extremely gentle tannins. Medium bodied (nicely aged) and a creamy texture. Thank you for sharing this one, Ron B! Revisited in September 2025. Outstanding wine. — 4 months ago

Olfatto incredibile. In bocca ancora tannino da levigare e morbidezze. Attenzione effetto alcol — 7 months ago
Super exciting wine. Insane spice on the nose. Like the whole spectrum. Gorgeous dark cherry fruit and endless depth. 9.7 nose. The florals are just insane. Best nose ever from Roncati. Palate is so deep you get lost in it but it’s so elegant and pure. Unreal density and concentration. Just so sapid and juicy. The fruit tends to be darker cherries but it’s still super bright. Big tannins but ripe and so velvety. Just awesome. This will age 50 years. Easy. It needs air but 9.5 out of the gates. Transcendent Ghemme. The nose you can get lost in after a bit of air. Almost a bee pollen effect. The finesse is remarkable. The nose after an hour is just so pretty. Deep cherry fruit, haunting dried florals and a gorgeous layering of spice. Chestnut. Truly just one of the best noses of the year. Palate is so lush and velvety. Big tannins! But ripe and velvety. Unreal density and concentration of fruit. Then finesses out on the finish and fans out dark cherry fruit and spice. Just ridiculous palate impact here. — 3 months ago
My first Ghemme Nebbiolo! Once it opened up it was like a rustic tomato sauce loaded up with dried oregano, almost sweet. Grippy but soft tannins. Ripe cherry and earth. Delicious. — 9 months ago
Nice Nebbiolo from ghemme. Didn’t change a ton from night 1 to night 2 which mostly makes me feel that this needs several more years to really come into its own. The nose is excellent - classic nebbiolo bouquet, though somehow both slightly darker and more floral than expected. It’s all there on the palate including the great acid but the tannins are quite unresolved. — 3 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Consistent throughout, but this really needed air in order to get going. Initially, this was quite wound up and somewhat backward. However, after about an hour in the glass, a real beauty emerged. The 2017 Costa del Salmino Riserva pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe, mostly red fruit: raspberries, strawberry, Morello cherry, red flowers, red rope, licorice, talcum powder, dried green herbs, new leather and cedar box. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and chock full of savory minerals. I mean…this bordering bone broth levels of savory, lol. My opinion: these need time to show their best. Drink 2027 through 2047. — 5 months ago

Old 2011. Needs 3/4 years again before been ready. Great wine — a year ago
