A mountainous region in Northern Italy; Alto Adige is influenced by German culture. Alto Adige is made up of two separate but similar regions: Alto Adige and Trentino. This wine blend is medium red with ruby highlights. The aromas hints are of rose and cherry. A cranberry-ish tinged finish is finely enhanced with smooth tannins. Excellent pairing with Beef short rib stew. — 3 years ago
Cherry, hibiscus, a bit of spritz. Banger of a Georgian rosé. — 4 years ago
Doing a tasting at our wine club, The Nightshift, with the theme “Ancient Vines.” Starting off here to understand Georgian wines better. Hopefully a good beginning…
(Draft of the novel in the background)
Aromas of honeysuckle, peaches, apricot, dried fruits, unfiltered honey.
I don’t know what the ratings are smoking. Maybe people are biased towards Eurocentric/American winemaking traditions we’re used to seeing in the marketplace.
With a winemaking tradition 8,000 years old that claims to be the birthplace of wine, this is as old world as you’re going to get.
Honeyed yams and sweet potato, dry like the tartness of an unripe peach, tea like qualities.
I think this is lovely (especially for a tasting). It’s going to stack up nicely with some fun cheeses. Excited. — 8 months ago
The producer of this lovely wine likens this ancient Georgian variety to sauvignon blanc. While this did have similar aromas of grass and lemon pith, as well as tropical fruit notes on the palate, I found this to be softer, and less tangy, than sauv blanc. Almost tastes like sauv blanc blended with riesling! 100% Rkatsiteli. 9/15/22. — 2 years ago
Great Georgian pick from primrose. Tart and sour with a nice finish. — 4 years ago
Earthy Saperavi, with a long and potent finish of pepper and earth. One of the best Saperavis I have had. Perfect with Georgian lamb dishes. — 5 years ago

Fun wine, extended skin contact - looks like a Rose and tasted like one too: mix between tart red fruit & savory notes, some potpourri, fairly exotic. Palate was bit more austere, open canvas for variety of light fare. We had huge salad w/smoked salmon and it was fantastic. Balanced and dry finish, go find some Georgian wine! — 4 months ago
