Fernet Vallet

Carabas Colli Piacentini Barbera

Also had this at Boston’s Bubble Bath along with other well selected wines. Unlike any other Barbera ever tasted. From Emilia Romagna. Herbal snd chalky, with intense aromas reminiscent of Fernet Branca?! Concentrated but cooling red fruits. Unique, intriguing, one of rose oh my god wines keep surprising me moments. Great with a Bolognese from around the corner. — a year ago

Vallet Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Melon de Bourgogne 2014

Vintage 2014 / by Jove, what a quality jump if Muscadet has stayed some years in bottle / minerals, citrus and hay / yield restricted, harvesting at maximum of maturity, aged 24 months on lees / granite shale and sand soils / medium weight and body, quite some power actually which makes it a fine dinner wine / good aftertaste / paired with cabillaud and shi take / archetypical Muscadet — 6 years ago

Fernet Liqueur

Unique fernet expressions—heavily minted/eucalyptus powered which was a fun experience. — 7 years ago

No idea why this has low scores it’s absolutely gorgeous and what you imagine burgundy should be but rarely is. Pretty good value at £40 — 4 years ago

Crow Valley Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

SV
9.0

In the glass, it’s hard to resist judgment; it’s just so light. Looks are deceiving. In the nose: rose hips, hibiscus, cherry liqueur. Flavors of pomegranate and rhubarb come first, followed by a heady, herbal bitterness that reads like fernet. I really like this style of Oregon Pinot. — 8 years ago

Domaine Auguste Clape

Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2019

2019 vintage. High, airy/perfumed nose of dill and white sage with a dollop of tar and charcuterie board. Medium-heavy body. Delicious riptide of bramble fruit and leather flavors that carry on and a balsamic/Fernet Branca note along with a lavender finish. Big-*ss tannins for a Côtes-du Rhône. Black olive lording over the proceedings Sauron-style from the moment the cork was pulled. White pepper wants to emerge on the tip of the tongue but not just yet. Soon…soon. Silly to find myself giving a "simple" Côtes-du Rhône a 9.3 but found it compelling enuff to seriously consider a 9.4. Didn't think it possible. — 4 years ago
