Monkey Jacket North Coast Red Blend 2017

Soft, aromatic, fruit driven... a fieldblend of Valdigue and 8 other grapes. ABV of 12.5 that is eminently crushable on a warm summer eve. I can’t smell or sip without cracking a smile... the wine is fun to drink with a capital “F”. Aromas of dark cherries, brown sugar, cinammon, and baking spices. — 5 years ago

Shaw Stanton Vineyard 2021

I have several vintages of this and haven't really drank any of them because they're all mostly massive wines that need time in the cellar to chill the F out, but I opened this a few Sundays ago and I guess I missed that this vintage came in under 14%. Freaking delicious. This is going to be excellent down the road. — 7 months ago

Minimus RedWhitePink Willamette Valley Rosé Blend 2016

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading GERSHWIN (Piano Concerto in F), GERSHWIN (Variations on “I Got Rhythm,” for piano and orchestra) and STRAVINSKY (Petrushka) with the amazing Jean-Yves Thibaude as the piano soloist on the two first works presented today. Jean-Yves is by far among our favorite pianists to grace the Koussevitzky Shed stage, so graceful, yet poignant!

Hot days call for cool wines, today there are some fun ones planned for sharing.

Very interesting, almost like a wine version of a kriek lambic, yum yum!

@Carla Hine Thanks for sharing!

Holy F!! This was just firing on every single cylinder. Bright red and black fruits that are so ripe and delicious. Balsamic reduction, bacon, tar, iron, earthy goodness and a silky baby bottom smooth finish. A real wow wine. Co WOTN for me. Crickey!! @Michael Meyer this was a treat. — 6 years ago

Nothing like a "silky bottom" I mean seriously.

I’m on board with silky bottoms...just looking for a bit more maturity.

Campo Eliseo Toro Tempranillo 2002

We recently pulled some cases out of storage, which haven't seen the light of day for nearly 15 years, so I'll have some fun posts in the next several months.

Nose has dusty cherry, dried blackberry, tanned leather, old cedar cigar box, shriveled blueberry, dried black currant, violets, mashed blueberry and dark roast coffee.

Palate has rehydrated blackberry, dried cherries, dried blueberry, dry potting soil, over-ripe black currant, chocolate powder, medium tannins, long finish; polished and beautiful!!

Paired with enchiladas with my homemade sauce from the summer of 2019 tomato harvest, local beef from Columbia Co NY; the dish and the wine lifted each other.

Could hold this bottle until its 20th birthday in proper storage, likely a little more. A perfect and supple cork pull tonight.

Listening to the beautiful vocal prowess tonight of Catherine Russell, life is good. No COVID-19 lockdown in MA yet, but it's gotta be around the corner...

Sonoma Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2016

So well balanced and integrated it’s almost hard to describe. White flowers, white fruit, and a dash of citrus on entry. Rounded finish with melon and a dash of cream. I think this is my first Bedrock wine. $28 and recommended by my local wine shop. Really flipping good. 👍👍👍👍 f — 7 years ago

I haven’t tried any Bedrock either! People on WineBerserkers go nuts over their stuff. I’ll try some of this.
