Sonoma County Chardonnay 2015
A blend of 96% Chardonnay and 4% Pinot Blanc (a return to very old Burgundian style where a small amount of Pinot Blanc was added to Chardonnay), a blending practice Elyse started in 2013. Pale lemon with aromas of stone and citrus fruits with notes of biscuit, blossom and cedar, sur lie aged for 16 months on 33% new French oak. On the palate crisp flavors of apple, pear and creamy lemon curd, lively acidity, well balanced, great mouthfeel. Medium+ finish with ending with a slight toasty nutty caramel and mineral character. Deep Ruby with concentrated aromas of ripe black fruit with subtle nutty spice & bitter chocolate. A blend of 93% Cab Sauv, 4% Cab Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. The palate offers flavors of dark fruit, sour black cherry & dried blackberries, with a firm touch of oak & leather. Tannins are present, but soft due to the age of the wine. The finish is elegant with a slight dry mineral tang, medium in length. Very Nice. This Napa offering should last a few more years, but why wait, it’s perfect now! Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago

Teldeschi Vineyard, with some of the oldest vines planted from 1913 to 1919, located in heart of Dry Creek Valley AVA in Sonoma County. Deep Ruby with subtle aromas of black fruits, citrus and spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blueberry with citrus, black pepper and cacao notes. Lively acidity, tannins with a rustic edge, long finish, full-bodied wine ending with fruit and herb spice character. Should develop nicely over next 5+ years. Nice! Tasting Sample! — 7 years ago

@Delectable Wine this is the 2013 Elyse Winery Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
Deep ruby red in appearance. Interesting nose with almost stewed plums, black cherries and a bit smoky. Medium plus tannins (7/10) with a full body. Cherry liqueur on the palate with some nutmeg, bitter cocoa and black currants. Dry and long finish. Drink till 2034.

Lots of “terroir” shines through in this Zin. Nose has the requisite blackberry fruit, but there is a ton of warm sandstone and crushed rock, along with moist humus, allspice, and wafty sandalwood smoke. Reminiscent of California Italian blends. Pronounced chewy black and dark fruits. Great with or after a medium to heavy meal. Finish lingers pleasantly and never varies from the mouth feel and taste. Maybe a hair pricey which for me knocks its rating done a tiny bit. — 7 years ago

2007 vintage. Nice fill, nice cork. Opened with a Durand. Decanted with minimal sed. Tasted 30 mins and 2 hrs after decanting. Light-medium body. Impressions of black olive, earth, mushrooms, baking chocolate and dark plum/cherry. As befitting the Elyse style, not a demonstrative effort but more of an enduring one focused on subtleties.
