Barossa GSM Grenache Blend 2015

At the Elderton Tasting and Dinner at the Downs Club hosted by co-owner Cameron Ashmead. I preferred this GSM to the Entry Level Shiraz with its sweet plummy earthy fruit and supple tannins. A crowd favourite on the night. — 3 years ago

On the nose, lemon, lime, tropicals; mango, melons, and white florals. Made in a nice dry style. However, it does have a touch of sweetness. Body is slightly creamy, 11% alcohol. Palate of green melons, green apple, citrus, very soft minerals, citrus blossoms & white florals with high acidity. Pleasant. — 4 years ago

E Series Chardonnay 2017

Choosing the next Downs Club White wine from 44 masked entries. Great balance between fruit and oak - the former in the peaches/stone fruit style. Very balanced. Amazing QPR selling for $15 on the Elderton web site with a LUC to the Club at under $10. My choice on the night but sadly democracy prevailed and another wine got the nod. — 2 years ago

On the nose, dry fruits of; cranberries, strawberries, rhubarb, blackberries, black cherries, tarry notes, black licorice, dark minerals & dark florals. On the palate, notes red & dark fresh florals, lifting spices, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, fruits on the palate are the same as the nose, M+ tannins, ripe fruits on the long even nice mellow acid finish. — 4 years ago
