Dependably enjoyable #grandcruchampagne 2012: yeasty nose, laid back citrus and some wet stone aromas. Still vigorous fine bubbles on the palate, nicely balanced but definitely tending towards very dry. Paired marvelously with a lentil soup starter and Cacio e Pepe rigatoni with sautéed shrimp dining al fresco (BYOB with reasonable corkage fee FTW!) on a relatively pleasant early summer evening in Houston. While a very nice bottle of bubbly, I must admit I was expecting a bit more verve given the GC vintage label. #fatcork — 3 years ago

Lovely burg (bartender smelled pears) but again on the surprisingly lighter side esp given age...didn’t stand up well to an unaged Gouda....realized afterward should have ordered the ‘15

#champagne #Marguet #Grancru #Elements11 Nonostante l'abbinamento "ideale" fosse il pesce, noi lo abbiamo bevuto a tutto pasto rigorosamente tutto carne. Strepitoso! — 9 years ago

Saturday afternoon in Copenhagen and back on the Rieslings. This number from Alsace is the perfect early afternoon, no-food-pairing-needed wine. Respectful on the palate; light, lemony, dry. Leaves a lingering, oily slip around the mouth; a welcome runway for a simple pasta aglio e olio, if one was inclined. Easy and delicious; and sometimes, easy and delicious is all we need. — 7 years ago

E’ molto buono, specialmente a mia moglie piace. — 5 years ago
Sedoso y elegante. — 6 years ago
Purchased for a steal and drinking beautifully. Ripe cherry and pomegranate, and high toned florals. Earth and mushrooms, dry leaves, Chinese five-spice and a touch of smoke. Palate is velvety and fruit-driven, with medium+ acidity, medium tannins. Super long (30+ second) acid driven finish absolutely coats the palate. Beautiful wine, enjoyed on day 1 with cacio e pepe, and day 2 with charcuterie. Looking forward to revisiting my 2 more bottles in the coming years. — 8 years ago

This smells dank like the E in an NYC summer when someone has relieved themselves in the corner … but some nicer dark fruit to chase. Bright red cherry but also dried raisins at the same time. Not much in the way of tertiary or herbal/forest flavors. — 4 months ago
