Domaine Royal De Jarras

Brut Royal Champagne Blend

NV | Solid choice. Apples. Its primarily quality is a very refined acidity. Nice start of my Sunday with scrambled eggs. — 17 days ago

Royal Oporto (Real Companhia Velha)

Quinta das Carvalhas 10 Year Old Tawny Port

White chocolate covered cherries, pralines, pecan pie. I think, I may like this better than TF10.

Royal City Washington Syrah 2014

Classy single vineyard Syrah. I assumed this would be an opaque, full bodied monster, but it was pleasantly balanced and closer to medium. Expensive oak was the star, but not in an off putting way - with 7 years and a four hour decant softening the barrel influence. Tasty and well crafted, unfortunately the Royal City’s price almost doubled once it became the first Syrah in Washington to receive 100 points in 2006. $130 — 2 months ago

Cuvée Royal St. Robert Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2018

Surprise of the night. Cherry and raspberry with fresh potting soil, sandalwood and some herbs. Think I’m a fan of whole cluster fermentation. From Wine Merchants Best of the West 4.10.21. — 2 days ago

Stoneridge Vineyard Syrah 2016

Rich juice squeezed from the Royal Slope in Columbia Basin. A sweet edge upfront turned into an earthy, mineral plethora of flavors with very soft tannins fully integrated. Pleasant finish. I had to score it high because it vanished pretty much by it selves. Nice start to the Easter weekend that concluded a week with a kick in the rear from my second Covid shot that took a few days to shake off. — 11 days ago

5 Puttonyos Furmint Blend

A bright burst of flavor, just the thing to wake oneself up after a languid dinner. Lacking the complexity to be a great sipper on its own but perfect for dessert. — 22 days ago

Domdechant Werner

Hochheimer Domdechaney Grosses Gewächs Riesling 2017

Star bright tannish gold. Surprisingly abundant nose of Royal Gala apples with a hint of flint. Still too young fir the flint to dominate, but it’s there. Medium light, layered palate echoes the nose wrapped around firm mouthwatering acidity and leading into a lengthy stony almost saline finish. German dry Riesling has come a long way since the turn of the century and this GG representative of the renowned 2017 vintage makes the case grandly. An excellent VDP authorized (look for the eagle) Riesling that will compliment a wonderful range of foods. Asian cuisine (non-spicy) or Euro-American pork dishes are naturals. Drink now through 2032 or so when the flint has taken the lead. — 7 days ago
