Domaine Raimbault Pineau

Château d'Orignac

Pineau des Charentes

Perfumed, complex and beguiling. Golden syrup, toffee and nuts, citrus, raisins, Christmas candy—what a symphony! A glass of this delight was how I ended my recent nose-to-tail dinner at St. John Restaurant in Smithfield, London. — 20 days ago

Phil 'en Bulle Pétillant Naturel Menu Pineau Romorantin 2015

Got stuck in a corner of my cellar. But fresh and ripe apples, sone critic and orange tones. Very well ripened in 10 years. — 9 months ago

Vieilles Vignes Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2020

My last bottle of the 2020, one of the riper versions I’ve had of this consistently excellent cuvée. Such deeply ripe gooseberry fruit that it crosses over into tropical. But there’s loads of freshness in the form of limestoney mineral scents. Ripe and deep on entry, but then the sneaky acids and the minerality clamps down, making the finish mouthwatering. Terrific accompaniment to our simple broiled haddock weeknight dinner. — 2 months ago

Tropics is the new Sancerre. Hard to find lean or green versions with global warming.

Rouge-Gorge Coteaux Du Loir Pineau d'Aunis

Love love as always! Is this my favorite vintage for this wine? Maybe not. Does it taste a little less Pineau d’aunis-ey than usual? Probably. But I’m splitting hairs here. Awesome wine that I bet will age well — 4 years ago
