Andrew Murray

Roasted Slope Vineyard Syrah 2014

To quote Miles: “Andrew Murray. Well okay.” Been a while since I’ve had one of Andrew’s wines, but I recall purchasing this at a Harvest Party a few years ago. Probably on the downslope just a bit, but this is still terrific. I always view the Roasted Slope as his homage to Guigal in my view, and it is a terrific wine. — 11 days ago

Blair Fox Cellars

The Dare Syrah 2011

Decided to crack this rare one, only 75 cases produced, since the winery opened the library today and offered up some more bottles. This Syrah is extremely big and complex, lots of tobacco, coffee, and earth up front but finishes in a lingering, soft, and ethereal manner. I believe this is the best vintage of The Dare to date and looking forward to seeing how this wine progresses over the next several years. — 19 days ago

S.A.S Prince Charles-Henri de Lobkowicz St. Pourçain Chardonnay Blend 2016

Lyle Fass
9.5

The inimitable Grosbot-Barbara Chardonnay Tressallier St. Pourcain blend. A favorite of mine. Nothing like it. Nose is really terrific. Like elite 1er Cru st. Aubin. Airy, mineral and so aromatically refined. Classy minerals. Really classy. This is such an elite wine. Subtle spice. Hint of framing oak. So good. Balanced and super pure. Juicy, structured, clean and electric. Rich and energetic with a knockout finish. Amazingly precise and deep. Such a brilliant wine. It’s like white burgundy crossed with Anjou Blanc. So good — a month ago

Lot 676 Santa Barbara County Roussane Blend 2016

The wine’s nose is very expressive and full of apricot, almonds, anise and Meyer lemon. The mouthfeel is weighty and the acidity is medium-vibrant. Flavors like stone fruit and citrus leads the way, while the Roussanne’s notes of nuts and salinity are balanced by the floral aspect of the Viognier. This is a versatile white wine for pairing with food. It will be a hit on your holiday table. — 11 days ago

Santa Barbara County White Blend 2016

Aromas of tangerine and ripe melon lead to flavors of peach and apricot. Balanced acidity and juicy honeysuckle accent the chalky finish with a hint of hazelnut. The red blend is one of my favorites, so I had to try the white, and it was everything I wanted it to be. Paired perfectly with Thanksgiving dinner. — 2 days ago
