I’d be the first to admit that I don’t drink much Laurent-Perrier (prefer to spend my money elsewhere), but this was definitely a case to pay more attention. The two pours I had were superb. The Grand Sièvle 25 is based on the esteemed 08’ vintage and it showed. In my friend’s words, “what a vibrant powerhouse!”

On the nose, intense aromas of white florals, pears, mandarins, chalk, brioche, and hints of hazelnut. Full-bodied on the palate with a creamy feel, but balanced by a citric, juicy element and an underlying minerality. Terrific tension that just made it dangerously easy to drink. Pity that there were quite a number of us on the table, else it could easily be a wine for one or two. One to revisit.
