Tasted blind next to 2010 Allemand Chaillot, this was immediately the fresher, more bountiful and vibrantly meaty, peppery and floral example of Northern Rhône. It did not have the weight, length or elegance of a slightly maturing Chaillot but surprised us all nonetheless. — 6 years ago

Hahahahahaha! Oh this one is a bitch. She tricked me into thinking she was corked the ENTIRE first night this was open. First time I was forced to leave her on the counter feeling rejected. Left it for 2 nights and redemption has become! Reminded me almost to an exact tee of the Balthazar Cornas chaillot. Tons of violets with a massive attack of limestone and granite making her a warrior of extreme grace. Cheers to opening this little girl. She's fierce and just barely forgiving if you have the patience. — 10 years ago

🔥🔥🔥. Old-school, brawny Cornas with an obvious Chaillot imprint. Granite, woodsmoke, ash, savory spice, pepper, leather, truffles, dried black fruit, menthol, graphite. The minerality is profound. Tannins and acid match the cooler vintage, firm and postured but incredibly textural. Cork was perfect. Day 2 is meat, soy, cocoa, and a juicier fruit profile coming through. The whole cluster had shed away and the umami is really showing. Glad to see this drink this well tonight! — 3 years ago

This is magnificent. Superb nose. Expansive and refined. Floral, herbal, granite, black fruits. Exuberant spice and man that granite. Elite aromas. Soupy dense fruit. A sense of deepness. So good. This is all Chaillot which really shows. The palate is awesome. Young but so refined and massive granitic tannins and massive fruit soak. Young purpley fruit. This is the Mouton-Rothschild of Cornas. The nose is ridiculous after 10 minutes. So detailed and deep. What a palate. This needs 10 years but is so impressive. After 45 minutes 9.5 to 9.6. Best young Gilles ever. — 4 years ago
