Domaine de Marcoux

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2003

Dark scarlet tawny color. Almost opaque. Strong CdP nose. Notes of herbs, red fruit, dry brush, dusty earth. Good balance in the mouth with fruit, acidity and structure. A bit over the top in its delivery with some heat involved, and a bit medicinal, but I liked this more than I thought I would. — 23 days ago

Interesting to see these 03 develop from such a hot vintage

Villa Creek

Avenger Paso Robles Syrah Blend 2016

Unctuous. Best way to describe this wine right now. Drank alongside a Marcoux CdP and this wasn’t even close to the Marcoux’s character and depth. Not to say this wasn’t a good wine; in fact, it was quite good indeed. Expectedly modern. Blue fruits and spice and lots of it. Bigger than the Marcoux for sure. Color was a huge contrast being more purple and the Marcoux’s bright red. Tannins weren’t too obtrusive. Decent acid. Not sure what to do with these wines. Drink now? Do they need more age to become their best? The 15.5% scares me a bit. Right now, this comes across too young. — 2 years ago

Could smell the wine across the room. Marcoux VV if blind tasted. Hard to believe it's Tempranillo — 4 years ago

In a good place with some age. Crushed violets and plums, a good red for a cold day. — 3 months ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc White Rhone Blend 2018

Producer over vintage everytime. Diffcult year but given the mildew and heat they’ve managed to make this textural, clean, and wholesome white that speaks to the tradition so well. Perhaps lacking some depth of the top vintages of CNDP white, this is perfect for the table, working wonders with tomato and fennel pasta to roasted trout with fall vegetables. Orchard fruits, ripe citrus, Pernod, nuts, white and yellow flowers, almond cream, herbs, pebbles, parsnip and white pepper. Lovely viscosity and phenolic grip here. — 7 months ago

Domaine et Selection Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2013

While waiting for the other wine to open up, this has kept us company. Bright, raspberries and fig- I swear I keep getting a waft of melon, then open my eyes and can it possibly be? — 4 years ago
