Seventy year old vines of this Domaine Colette 2023 Fleurie deliver a leggy, dark purple appearance that is backed up and confirmed by an abundance of perfumed and flavorsome red and black fruits. It is medium>full, well balanced and solidly structured with medium+ acidity and matching soft drying tannins at the long, tasty finish. A solid Cru, without much (if any) carbonic maturation, and one of the sturdier Fleuries that I’ve come across. — 8 months ago

Fun to drink! Surprising depth for a beaujolais. Christmas 2022. — 4 years ago
Great for drinking every day, smooth and would pair well with many dishes or no food.

This is the Domaine de Colette Morgon “Charme”. It’s a pretty big wine for a BoJo. Fairly deeply extracted color, nose has deep, ripe, dark berries, a little whiff of wet farmyard soil, just a teensy bit of crushed stone. It’s surprisingly low-toned in the mouth, with earthy dark berries again and lowish acids. Actually a fair amount of grainy tannins too. So this one presents a quandary: how long to wait for the tannins to smooth out but without acids to make that a stress-free wait? I personally would drink these within the next two years. — 8 months ago

Have you tried Pinot Noir from Alsace 🇫🇷 - a region best known for its “noble” white varieties, i.e., Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, & Muscat?
It’s a real treat and this one is a rare gem, produced by Domaine Weinbach, a family-run estate since 1898 (though the winery was first established in 1612 by Capuchin friars), in the Village of Kayserberg. In honor of these 17th Century origins, the label features an image of a friar carrying a basket of grapes. 🍇🍇
Domaine Weinbach is one of the most celebrated estates in Alsace thanks in large part to the leadership of matriarch Colette Faller, working alongside her two daughters, Catherine and Laurence. 👏🏻👏🏻
Since the devastating loss of Colette and Laurence, the estate remains in the loving hands of Catherine now joined by her sons (Colette’s grandsons), continuing the family’s legacy & commitment to excellence in winemaking. ♥️♥️
Grapes for this wine came from the prized Altenbourg Vineyard, farmed biodynamically and organically. 🌱
This wine has a pale ruby hue (on its way to garnet) and bouquet of Morello cherry, raspberry, red plum, rose, toast, cardamom, mushroom, & forest floor notes. On the palate, it offers firm acidity, fine-grained, supple tannins, high alcohol (14.5% ABV), and a combination of elegance, nuance, finesse, and complexity. — 3 years ago

If you, like me, wanted to cap off your turkey week with a big fat ribeye and a bigass red wine, I can report that this is delicious. — 7 years ago
