Just an incredible 14 year old #syrah from Wind Gap that’s just screaming Crozes-Hermitage or Cornas in the glass. Cured meat, bacon fat, black olive followed by a deep well of brooding black fruit aromas. Palate is fresh with salivating acidity, aged fruit, coffee, dark chocolate and ethereal tannins on a long finish. Beautiful wine, especially for $53 for 6 bottles at WineBid (before shipping.)

Rich really liked. Peppery, little tangy but smooth. Air it. That really makes it nice — 6 months ago
When a Cali Syrah clocks in at 12.9%, I get a little nervous that I’m about to drink a statement and not a wine. My nervousness was unfounded. Nose is bright, with sniff-able acids, but lots of other stuff too: green olive, tiny red berries, crushed rock powder, dry-cured salami. Soft and flavorful, the interplay of low-toned savory flavors and zingy acids does a treble/bass thing on the palate. Finish is pretty long. Nice wine! — 5 years ago

Well, glad I kept this for another 6 years to see how it evolved. Cork was in amazing shape. Brick red. Almost tawny in glass. Dried flowers and herbs on the nose. Not a lot of fruit on the nose. Palate is more dried flowers, roses, leather, the faintest touch of pouch tobacco, plums, dried fig, maybe persimmon. It dries the mouth with tannin and acidity. Definitely secondary flavors starting. Probably the best wine deal I’ve ever had for this type of quality. Wish I had one more to try in 2028. — 15 hours ago
