Desert Wind

Orin Swift Cellars

8 Years in the Desert Zinfandel Blend

Gifted by my partner’s sister as a sweet & thoughtful surprise for our 6 month anniversary ♡ We are new to wine but have been spending our past few date nights just at home watching movies with an inexpensive bottle she recommended from our local grocery store (which we enjoy so much!). And to celebrate our anniversary, we did the exact same thing— except this time, with a bottle carefully chosen by a loved one from her own personal collection, who is THE wine lover!! Rudy & I both loved the taste of this one so much. I think it’s a great start for those like us who are getting into wine and have no idea about anything and just want something tasty, because now we know we like zinfandel blends! I’m not there yet with describing the taste of wine but I do really like the complexity of blends now and thought this tasted very clean and yummy (っ˘ڡ˘ς) Thank you Aimee!! Note: we also did homework on how the name originated! Very cool to know how the person who made this sold his popular zin blend & had to sign a clause that wouldn’t allow him to make anymore zin blends for 8 years- hence the 8 years in the desert :0 — 7 days ago

Wind Gap Wines

Mi-Pente Pinot Noir 2014

Poured cranberry color but looks more like garnet in the glass. Notes of cherry and spices. — 4 years ago

Wind Gap Wines

Nellessen Vineyard Syrah 2016

Bacon fat, smoky, very northern Rhône-like aromas and flavors, with a very cool climate “vibe” (12.4% ABV), great acid and freshness, I am very much a huge fan, long, lingering finish!! — 2 months ago

Sceales Vineyard Old Vine Grenache

Seventy-five plus year vines make me happy. Plenty of acidity balanced by lean, yet round, tannins. Savory raspberries and cherries with rhubarb and a little bay leaf. Yum! — 4 years ago

Wind Gap Wines

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

This is the last Wind Gap bottle I have from their original owners. Savoring the leathery, cherry, woodsy elegance and toasting to all Medical professionals who are risking their lives right now. — 5 years ago

Wind Storm

Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel 2021

Rich really liked. Peppery, little tangy but smooth. Air it. That really makes it nice — 4 months ago

Wind Gap Wines

Luna Matta & Glen Rose Vineyards Nebbiolo 2006

My last bottle from the defunct yet memorable winery.

Smells so delicious, like a fruit yogurt

This drinks like it is fresh, with blackberry bramble, subtle and unique red fruits tucked behind the leather ones.
Tannins are still very gripping, and the acidity tames it back. A touch of heat and its off to the races!

You probably wanted to hang on if the winery is no more. Cheers!🍷

I alway serve corn nuts at my holiday party. It’s un-American not to do so.
