Really special wine. Great balance and mouth feel — a month ago
This wine is medium dark garnet with some brown starting to show. The nose brings enough savory for everybody. Currant, fig, and blackberry notes are draped in earthy scents like pepper, tobacco, oak spice, coffee, and tarragon. The palate holds a set of firm tannins and a racy acidity. Flavors of dark berries, cherry, and plum define the wine’s profile. It will pair well with pork, lamb, or veal. — 23 days ago
Very nice, dry but not too dry, smooth. Good with Veal Marsala. — a month ago
50/50 sangiovese grosso and merlot. Full bodied with dark fruit, some touches of coffee with bitterness and acidity but great structure with earthiness and great tannins with a long finish. Definitely something to try again. — 5 days ago
Well Worth the Wait! I bought 5 bottles of this wine about 16 years ago (hence the amazing price) and this is my last one…..🙁 Never disappointed, always amazed by its splendid maturation! — a month ago
Deep garnet in color to match rich dried dark fruit on the nose. Plum and dried black currants in the glass with fresh acidity and firmly integrated tannins. This wine is at its peak and should be consumed soon if you have some in your cellar. — a month ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Consistent throughout. The 2023 “Contra Costa County” pours, a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe mixed bramble fruit: blackberries, Marionberries, raspberries, black pepper, orange zest, menthol, and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose where the orange citrus notes show a bit more prominently. The finish is medium+, bright and refreshing. 9 barrels produced. Drink now through 2038. — 11 days ago
