May 16, 2020. SD dinner w/ Jack D. Purchased this at the vineyard March 1 following a library tasting. It was good then and I remember having a hard time deciding between this and another wine, they were all good. Last night, by itself I’m so glad I got this one. It is an EPIC wine. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Hints of dark fruit (cassis, black cherry), more smoke, tobacco, and a tinge if mint. So good. — 6 years ago
I’m a HUGE fan here. This wine impressed me every time. I’ve had the 2000 and 2012, and now the 2015. I opened the 15 by mistake, but it delivered. I let it sit in decanter for an hour, and POW a ripe Smokey hem. Coffee and blackberries on the pallet. Nice tannic structure with some good acidity. You can easily see how this can evoke for decades. — 7 years ago

Merlot and Cabernet Franc from 30 ye old vines planted by Mondavi. Good but not elaborate. Uncomplicated. It was suggested that it was Sangiovese-like, by the hostess, but I disagree. — 8 years ago
either I actually found a Pinot Grigio I like or I’m drunk :D — 9 years ago
In beautiful shape, better than I remember the last bottle being. Dried red and black fruits, dry dusty tannins, forest floor, dried porcini mushroom and old leather umami nodes, cedar, dried herbs. Did I mention it’s dry? But it’s a beautiful wine, the flavor profile exudes sun baked warmth but the alcohol clocks in at less than 12% so it doesn’t fatigue the palate — 3 years ago
Nice taste but a little juicer than I normally like. Nips at the tip of your tongue but goes down smoothly. — 5 years ago
The Seasonal Grand Opening of the D&S Lounge. That’s going to require some BSR to celebrate.
As well, going to detail notes of this with my new Riedel Vintage Sommelier flutes, center picture. I’ve been wanting to write notes on this Champange in the new flutes as I wanted to do it one I am very well acquainted. As @Paul T- Huntington Beach & @Severn Goodwin have pointed out the many times I have posted it.
The nose is definitely more vibrant. Tangerines lead where they haven’t in my previous notes now using the new flutes. More pink rose petals, blood orange, pink grapefruit, leaner; strawberries, watermelon, warmed, creamed raspberries, apricots & cherries, liqueured marmalade, hints of scorched rhubarb, lemon/lime aid, chalky powder, delicate, grey volcanics, sweet, sea spray, bread dough, baguette crust, touch of brown sugar/molasses light, haunting, dry herbs, limestone and bouquet of; white, red, pink & orange roses.
The body is round with some gummy or gluiness. Everything about the mouthfeel is more delicate and softer. The bubbles smaller & more refined. Pink rose petals, blood orange, pink grapefruit, leaner; strawberries, watermelon, warmed, creamed raspberries, apricots & cherries, liqueured marmalade, hints of scorched rhubarb, almost a date presence on the long set, chalky powder, delicate, grey volcanics, sweet, sea spray, lighter intensity of white spices but, still has the heat & palate penetration, bread dough, baguette crust, touch of brown sugar/molasses light, haunting, dry herbs, limestone and bouquet of; white, red, pink & orange roses. The acidity is all fresh & lively with this cuvée. But, even that seems better. The finish is as always; well knitted & balanced, polished, fresh, persistent and never disappoints.

I think thats military terminology @Severn Goodwin scorched Rhubarb policy. I just saw it on the history channelDelicious white wine that’s perfect on a warm spring evening. Albariño is a newly discovered favorite - I sense I’ll be drinking this all summer! Crisp and zesty. — 7 years ago
Firing. On. All. Cylinders. Wine was purchased about 3.5 years ago in a six-pack and was intended to be consumed rather fast. Back story: ran into a 12 pack of 2005 "Prima Voce" close to 10 years ago at about 10 bucks per bottle and was told it was "ok" for an Italian blend but it wouldn't last longer than a year or so (but noone knew for sure). It. Killed. Come to realize the only reason it was available readily in the states was because Kendall Jackson acquired them. Fast forward about 6 years from that and requested to find this one. Today, Arceno is still under the KJ umbrella. Have slowly been drinking on the ones I found a few years ago. This wine is rather aromatic even from Coravin. Dirty raspberry, grilled meat, Italian spice on the nose. Medium + density and mouthfeel. Acidity has died down quite a bit, allowing a floral dirty raspberry to show up front, losing a lot of sweetness. that I remember,Leathery and "bloody" in the middle. Finishes with some brambly herb, green olive, and a hint of black pepper spice. This wine is RIGHT at the top of the hill now. There are many 12 year old Chiantis that I would gladly pass on, but this one is a definite "yes please" even at 12 years of age. Ratings likely in the 8's because people just don't give this one the time that it needs. D — 8 years ago
Great blend. Nice tannins, legs and strong long lasting finish. Really enjoyed surprisingly, it was bolder/Bigger than a Kathryn hall cab I had the next day. — 4 years ago
a little acidic at first but it really opens up as you drink it. i like it more and more. — 6 years ago
I have probably rated this better than I should cause I was having a celebration. I enjoyed it a whole lot at the time! — 7 years ago
Surprisingly light, fruity, slightly sweet, one of the better wines I had in a while. — 8 years ago

Beautiful nose on this, remembering why I bought this while in the tasting room in Sta. Rita Hills (nice little spot in Los Olivos, highly recommend). Med+ intensity on the nose with bright cherry and strawberry. A bit of cedar/vanilla, but not much. Floral notes that almost turn to candy or runts. Nice on the palate too with a big pop of red fruit, med+ acidity and nice fine, integrated tannins. Long finish that sort of turns from sweet to tart cherry. Just a really nice wine. I scored a 93 but guessing this will improve and become a bit more elegant with a few more years. — 8 months ago
