Poured into a decanter about 30 minutes prior to service; no formal notes. Wow. The 1996 Reserva is showing so well. I would place it in the vinous category but it’s far from tasting “old”. I shared this bottle with a group of experienced, expensive California Cabernet drinkers and it was universally enjoyed even though it could only be described as a traditional expression of Rioja Reserva. Well-stored examples (though few exist at this point), are drinking well now. What a lovely surprise. — 4 months ago
For my surprise it is a really good wine, with a bit of present of vinager, and bit of present of zugar — 2 months ago

I tasted this vintage a year ago, and not much has changed. It is a dark wine, one which lets very little light pass through. The nose displays more fruit than oak, which is a good sign if you plan to chill it and serve it outside. Blackberry, raspberry, cassis, anise all shine brightly, with light notes of clove and cinnamon. The palate is clean and fresh, with the dark fruit taking a bow. The tannins have softened somewhat over the past year, but are still maybe a little firm for an outdoor meal under the sun, but the acidity is brisk and refreshing. — 2 months ago
Very pleasant. Definitely buy again — 5 months ago
Bright golden color. Aromas of tropical fruits, white flowers and sea spray. The palate leans more toward pear and unripe peach with a pleasant herbal note on the finish. Mouth filling texture, medium body and crisp acidity. There is a bit of weight (pleasant) but it’s not over the top. Still fresh (opened almost five years past the vintage date) and quite fruit forward. So interesting! — 5 months ago

Strong dark wine with fruity, creamy, spicy and vanilla notes. Needs strong food to pair with to not overpower the food. — 23 days ago
