Château Musar

Cuvée Blanc White Blend 2009

Golden, beautifully matured with all the love you could squeeze out of fresh sour apricots, syrupy canned peaches, perfumed black cherries, and all the things that oxygen brings.

Apricots first, then a lifted VA note that folds into a nutty sticky caramel apple thing.

It's more perfumed and full of acid and life then you'd ever imagine despite a tired ale color. Amazing stuff.

Levantine De Musar Red Blend 2022

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Best on Day 1. The 2022 “Levantine de Musar” pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of mostly tart, red and black fruit: blackberries, raspberries, cherry, some anise, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. Overall, a fresh and easy expression Musar that’s great with a variety of fare. Drink now through 2032…but best fresh. — 3 months ago

1999. One of serge last wines. Things showing as well as any wine I’ve had. Super expressive on nose. Super long finish. Great balance. Rich plummy flavors. Fantastic. — 2 months ago

AFAIK, Serge was involved in the winemaking (alongside Tarek) all the way until he passed in 2014.

Château de Fieuzal

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

2014 vintage. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. Stephen Carrier opted for very gentle extractions for this vintage, looking for a balance, maybe sacrificing a bit of power to preserve the fruit. It seems to have been a wise decision, this 2014 is ready to go, fully mature, with soft tannins balancing the fruit and spices. Very good length also. A great Fieuzal to drink now. Interestingly, it reminds me somehow of Château Musar. Abv. 13,5%. — 6 months ago
