Esola Vineyard Zinfandel 2023

Deep, rich berry nose accented by animal, feral notes. Not necessarily prototypical Zin characteristics. But really nice. On the palate, however, it’s more typical. Earthy, sandstoney blackberry fruit, really nice balance of richness, acids, and tannin. Very long finish. I love the Zins from this vineyard, but I think I heard somewhere this is the last vintage they’re making from here. 😥 — 6 days ago

Amador County Chenin Blanc 2022

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. The 2022 pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart orchard fruit: passion fruit, lemon, sea spray, white flowers, lanolin and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with a wooly texture and lovely minerals. Drinking now through 2037. — 3 months ago

Blend of 60% Macabeo, 25% Xarel·lo, and 15% Parellada, organically-farmed, aged for 18 months before disgorgement, pale straw lemon color with aromas of stone and citrus fruit, baked bread notes with a mineral tang, light bubbles and mousse. On the palate flavors of apple, pear and citrus, dry with nutty biscuit notes, medium finish ending with a toasty citrus floral mineral character. — 2 months ago
