Aurora

Vin de Montagne Cabernet Franc 2018

2018 vintage. Another great effort from this tiny estate that started out as a hobby for oncologist Fady Geara. This beautiful monovarietal Cabernet Franc is produced from vineyards in the village of Aoura, in Northern Lebanon, at 850 meters of altitude. Intense perfume of black and red fruits, oriental spices, mint, and a hint of vanilla. Layers of concentrated juicy fruit and spices, balanced by fresh mountain wine acidity and velvety tannins. Long, fresh finish. Highly recommended. Abv. 14 %. — 3 months ago

Bodegas Arane

Clos Pepin Casa Aurora Red Blend

Consistent w previous notes but even better- more open & full on palate. Medium bodied but plays light on palate, & somehow feels playful. Fresh black fruits, & in layers so some depth. . A young gun vintner on the Mencia scene. — 9 months ago

Aurora Oloroso Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino

Cigar, smoke, and fig, slightly aromatic, with an acidic and bitter finish. Not my favorite on its own (prefer a smoother, semi-sweet sherry) but balanced and smoothed out when paired with a smoked and aged Gouda and Cheddar cheese. — 4 months ago
