2021. This big, fruity, oaky (vanilla) wine does not exhibit 16% abv and doesn’t really have a tannic bite. Used to be one of my annual buys, but not any longer. Saw it in the wine store and they had two bottles left on discount to make room for the 2022 vintage. Since I do like this wine with grilled steak, I picked one up and the crowd enjoyed it. Single Vineyard Tempranillo from Central Spain. Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas of ripe black fruit, tobacco, wet soil and anise seed. Flavors of cooked black cherries, currants and plums, dark cocoa powder, black olives and vanilla. Nicely integrated toasty oak on the long and plush finish. Full bodied. You can find this everywhere, and it's not bad. This 2021 is actually quite good. A lively berry medley and a little tobacco leaf finish. Smoke on the nose. It's fun!
