Aragosta — Vermentino di Sardegna DOC
Sardegna, Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
A 100% Vermentino from Sardegna DOC, crafted in a fresh, coastal-driven style that captures the island’s marine influence. This is a casual, vibrant expression built on lift, salinity, and drinkability, a true Mediterranean white with energy to spare.
Aromas & Flavors
Bright lemon zest, green apple, and white peach with clear sea-breeze salinity and subtle herbal undertones. There’s a crisp citrus core that feels sharp and focused, yet never aggressive.
Mouthfeel
Lively and razor-fresh, with uplifting acidity and pronounced saline tension. It’s “crazy sharp” in precision but rounded at the edges, finishing smooth with a light, pleasant textural glide that keeps it balanced and highly approachable.
Food Pairings
Grilled shrimp, seafood linguine, oysters, calamari, light fried fish, beachside antipasti, or simply chilled on a warm afternoon.
Verdict
A bright, energetic Sardinian Vermentino that delivers exactly what you want from a coastal white, freshness, salinity, and clarity. Casual in spirit, yet technically well-balanced and satisfying.
🍷 Personal Pick
This is the type of Vermentino that makes you appreciate the island breeze in liquid form. Sharp, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink, a reliable Mediterranean companion. — 4 months ago
Never say no to free wine (Pt 2) — 4 years ago
A superbly-crafted multi-layered Vermentino with great intensity and striking character. Slightly bracing stone fruit, balanced by a second layer of subtle tropical notes and followed by very herbaceous finish. Mint, ginger and white pepper linger very persistently. Great tension of firm minerality and rounded mid palate. This is just about the finest expression of Vermentino I’ve had. Not the greatest value at $40, so I reserve my recommendations for serious lovers of this variety and of more esoteric Mediterranean whites. — 5 years ago
Very light, a wee bit spicy on the tongue. Tannin-y. I like! — 6 years ago
Good. Alcohol not well integrated today and tannins a bit tough. Very aromatic. No shortage of fruit. Age will improve — 7 years ago
Light yellow color. Aromas of green orchard fruit, white flowers and citrus. Flavors of peaches, nectarines, tropical fruit, green apples, lemon curd, raw almonds and a very pleasing saline note. Beautiful note of minerality on the long finish. Medium-minus body (but still a bit of heft) and refreshing acidity. Lovely silky texture for such a crisp wine. Outstanding QPR. Blend of 80% Vermentino and 20% Chardonnay, pale straw lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruit, citrus and floral notes. On the palate flavors of pineapple, peaches and lemon with notes of herb floral spice. Good acidity, balance and structure, medium+ finish ending with fruit, floral and mineral character. Screw cap! Almost tropical on the nose.
Extremely well balanced and light tannin in the mouth. — 5 months ago

100% Vermentino
The nicest Vermentino I’ve had to date.
Ripe fruity body nicely balanced by acidity, sandy fennel notes. Not complex, but definitely quality. — 6 years ago
Delicious, vibrant, complex and juicy. Dettori tends to show some bottle variation, this was a good one. — 7 years ago
Delicious and different. Oxidative, rich. Not a beginner wine. — 8 years ago
Drank this with the family & it was the perfect pairing accompanied with turkey veggie lasagna! An uncomplicated fresh Sardinian alchemy to share along with imbibe! — 4 days ago
v12. Delicious. Soft tobacco nose. Fresh, deep black fruits with a hint of soft tar. Bright, long, chocolate finish. — 2 months ago
Heerlijke fruitig wijn van Sardinië. Als je daar bent in oktober (2025) met een heerlijk zonnetje op een terras, dan smaakt deze wijn nog beter. Fruitig, smaakvol en een vol bouquet. — 8 months ago
From the federal wine Xmas crate. Drank after a long day with chicken Caesar and it totally hit the spot. I taste the apple/pear at the margin. — 6 years ago

Another excellent vintage of this Sardinian clone of Grenache. Aromas of bright red fruit, dried violets, smoky oak and sweet baking spices. Flavors of juicy red cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit, cola, tobacco and those baking spices. Long and lingering finish. Crisp, vibrant and refreshing acidity. Full bodied and surprisingly smooth tannins. 14% ABV, but it is difficult to notice. Outstanding value! Thanks for the taste, Kase. — 20 days ago
