Domaine de la Chevalerie Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2014

E molto buono. Vogliamo prendere di nuovo. L’ho trovato all’enoteca di Chambers Vini. E rotondo generalmemte, abbiamo sentito il gusto crudo. E come i vini della spina in Puglia. — 14 days ago

Sébastien David

Hurluberlu Cabernet Franc 2018

Sebastien David is known for what he can do with cab franc. Hurluberlu is fresh, fruity, and mysterious with no indication of the vintage anywhere. The importer (T. Edward) informed me this is 2018. It’s very good.

Concrete only, whole cluster, but less crunchy and pyrazine driven than what I was expecting. It’s elegant, soft, and loaded with minerals. Salty air playing against sour wild blueberries, green strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Bullseye ripe.

Domaine Le Sot De L'ange

La Boutanche Melon Azay-le-Rideau Melon de Bourgogne 2016

Recall that La Boutanche is a project designed to bring good, low intervention wine to the people for around $20. Different producers so a variance in quality too. So it goes.

The ones from Le Sot de L’Ange (bulldog label) are the best of La Boutanche I’ve tried and “Melon” is a serious step above. It’s creamy and rich, voluptuous, assumed from extended lees contact. It has white creamed corn, Granny Smith Apple, bitter almond, chamomile, white flowers, and fennel.

L'Epée Chinon Cabernet Franc 2016

Ruby color, hints of blue. Pink rim variation. Nose reminds me of strawberry jam, ripe black cherry, mulberry, licorice, molasses, old leather, tar. Yet a light body. Herbal and strawberry notes on the palate. Nicely balanced, complex, with a great structure. — 7 days ago

Very distinctive start and finish. Fruity acid start that mellows down into slight oakiness. — a month ago

Jean-Maurice Raffault

Chinon Cabernet Franc Rosé 2018

Today I picked up this 2018 Domaine Jean-Maurice Raffault Chinon Rośe. 100% Cabernet Franc and just another reason why I love this grape so much.

The nose has beautiful aromas of red fruit, strawberries, red raspberry, watermelon, orange zest, melon and minerality.

On the palate is a delicious strawberry, tart grapefruit, tart raspberry, red currant, pomegranate, orange peel and a nice mineral note.

This wine is medium bodied very dry with medium + acidity and medium fine tannins that lead into a clean crisp fresh finish. A very pleasing summer drinker. If other 18's from Loire are this good I will be drink my share of Loire Rośes this year. Have a safe weekend enjoying yourselfs. Nostrovia ! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Touraine Fié Gris 2015

Just had this as our wine pairing for our meal at L'Ecluse restaurant in Amboise. Our last dinner in France before heading home from our two week family vacation. This wine was outstanding as was the rest of the offering at L'Ecluse. The nose on this wine is interesting and I would even go as far as saying compelling. The orange blossom was ever present but so was a complement of spices. River stone minerality. Pure and great. — 12 hours ago
