Grand-Mont Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2011

Lush and muddy at once. Nice, subtle maturity—some cedar, dried tobacco—and an unexpected kernel or butter on the nose. Soft, lush tannins and red fruit. Would love to have some roast veggies with woody herbs or roast chicken with this — 15 days ago

Les Perrières Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 1989

A 30 yr old beauty. Didn’t think Cab Frac could go that long and keep such freshness. Not only is it fresh with good acidity and bright red fruit with mellow green pepper, it’s got supple tannins that keep it interesting. Was delicious on its own but with food it was crazy good. — a month ago

Chevalerie Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2014

Nice Cab Franc from the Loire. Quite deep in the glass. Very stereotypical green peppery notes on the nose. On the palate the fruit comes through but this definitely has some serious vegetal notes. Good acid on the finish. Nice. — 22 days ago

La Coudraye Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2017

Medium bodied, mellow tannins, some bell pepper, anise, black tea, dark cherry. Liked it better than their La Mine. From Flatiron Wines. — 23 days ago

Delicious. Cedar, black fruit on the nose, tobacco and leather on the finish. So rich! — 3 days ago

Nuits d'Ivresse Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2011

Really needs some time in the decanter, wound up super tight. Funky earthy nose with sour cherry and topsoil, very fleshy, rustic body of blue and red fruits, a bit of red bell pepper, bakers chocolate, loads of pencil shavings, a faint suggestion of spruce. Really crunch skeleton with serious, almost saline minerality. Fruit fades before the minerals and earth. Really complex. Give it plenty of air and a long ponder. — 25 days ago
