Gran Reserva Faustino I Rioja Tempranillo Blend 1994

A gift from my old man for my thirtieth birthday this year. My last experience with this wine was the 2001, enjoyed around ten years ago. I described then how the wine lived up to its popular reputation. Happy to reaffirm that feeling with this 1994, that is an absolutely gorgeous, captivating wine that ticks every box one may have for older Rioja. It marries sweet with sour in that way that the best wines from this region do, a medley of ripe blueberries with sour cherry; bitter orange, coconut, balsamic, tobacco and cranberry. The finish is long, with flecks of sweetness that beg you for another sip. I would imagine that Faustino produce in excess of a million bottles of this stuff, given the size of their holdings, which only impresses me even more that it turns out so well. — 5 days ago

Crianza Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2020

Medium ruby in color; cherries, tabacco, and dried figs on the nose; medium acidity; medium tannins; tastes like sour cherries, black pepper, and dried flowers with a long finish. — 2 months ago

Rias Baixas Albariño 2023

Beguiling #ríasbaixas - exactly what you expect of this region. Lemon, white peach, orchard fruit nose. Airy, crisp on the palate, some green herbal notes, such a refreshing and delicious #albariño — 3 months ago

Tio Pepe Tres Palmas Jerez Palomino Fino 1835

N: Salty dried butterscotch/caramel, Seashore, old boats, rot in the best of ways.
P: Sweet but no… upon entry, the impression is of something unctuous and sweet, for a bit of a second, then DRY. Yellow and gold flowers/melon,
heady at 16°. Great w baby artichokes and Parm and pan seared Branzino.
Varnish lacquer,
Really fine weirdo stuff. I’ve never splurged for the Quattro Palmas…but….

Faustino V Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2017

A truly crowd pleaser, had the 2017 vintage and was perfectly at its prime time. 100% Tempranillo grapes, loved the clove and spices combo on the nose and palate. Some hints of cinnamon and vanilla. Can be rich for some with persistent nice acidity. Persistent long and savory finish. A daily sipper ! — 2 months ago
