Blanc De Noir Champagne

Louis Roederer

Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2015

Light straw , very young looking . Constant very fine perlage . Quite closed at first then crushed rocks , lemon peel , ginger , white flowers , brioche . On the palate good richness and intensity , lemon , orange rind , buttered bread , touch of roast nuts . Very fine mineral tinged , intense finish . This needs time and will improve over the next 10 years or so and last well a further 5-10 . A good follow up to the 2014 , this shows more backward and will take even longer to reach its peak. Perhaps a little less detailed and precise than the very mineral 2014 but that might just be a question of needing more time in bottle. — 15 days ago

Jacques Selosse

Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

2020 Disgorgment is utter perfection, a particular favorite, exploding with infinite depth of red berry fruit and chalky minerality with a vibrant, chiseled palate with singular texture and a finish that keeps on going. VO base with a touch of still Pinot from Francis Egly. Nothin’ like it. — 24 days ago

Jacques Selosse

Initial Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

(Disg. 12/14) One of the best bottles of Selosse in recent memory, the coveted 2008 base Initial is an absolute stunner, still incredibly fresh and vibrant with off the charts complexity and captivating Selossien aromatics, a rich, powerful and textural palate with layered minerality and a finish that just doesn’t end. Amazing wine. — 7 days ago

Been awhile since I have had this…a good revisit. I’m sure my historical notes on this still stand.

My cherry tomatoes are in full streaming mode. So good. Especially, with burrata.

Try this with your garden cherry tomatoes or ones from the farmers market. Slice in halves, drizzle nicely but not over w/ olive oil, squeeze some fresh lemon, add Maldon salt to taste and fresh basil strips. Mix & let stand 10-15 before enjoying. It is the most authentic presentation of Italian cuisine I have known outside Italy.
